Hey guys, years back under another name I mentioned finding a pengun that had these screw in cartridges that shot teargas. There were apperantly some that were set up to fire off flare rounds.

Does anybody know anything about these?

I looked at Pengun.com and they were mainly talking about the folding derringer type of them.

There where sevral companies that made these. The Lake Erie Chemical Co. Cleveland Ohio was one company and another made this model called the Defender..

here is an old advert for these...

yeah that's pretty much what I got Absenther.

I wonder though if they make anything for it anymore though.

I had an old book about spy stuff, and the russians had like 3 different weapon pens, one was tear gas, one was cyanide, and another did poison pellets. Don't have any references at this point, and it will be a while till I have access to it again, like about a month.

Check out the book Zips, Pipes, and Pens(arsenal of improvised weapons) by J David Truby to get an overview of penguns, as well as a bunch of other similar cool items. Paladin Press publication.

Keep in mind that a gun which deliberately does not look like a gun is a Class III Firearm and, legally, you have to have all your BATF paperwork in order to own it.

I know, it's technically not a gun because it doesn't fire fixed ammo, so I don't need the AOW paperwork on it. Now if it had a barrel that would make it possible to fire fixed ammo, then yes I would.

Tall Paul has a nice one, where it actually has to be folded for it to be fired (that way the company couldn't just sell them as AOWs)

His is real, mine is just a flare/teargas launcher. (and I'm not going to try to set it up to fire real ammo mainly because I like having all of my fingers)

johnymaham is almost correct... Mine does not require registration at this point it does fold before it can fire AND has the proper "grip angle" "a trigger" and a working safety... those things make it a handgun and makes the registration not neccasary...

when I saw it I bought it figuring the pressure would be applied before to long and it was... I don't know of anyone making them anymore rebadged or not.

it would be last ditch if used for real- me I just like the novelty... I personally like to hit what I aim at- or have a chance to anyhow- contact shooting is not a desire for me ;)

That period ad is so great. I had no idea I need a weapon for "demoralizing the attacks of robbers, morons and mad dogs."

Oh wait, its 2008 and we've got Sabre Red:eek:
