Hi
What is your preference in pens? (I am going through a pen fetish stage)

1- Clicky top
2-twisty bottom
3- capped
4- a pen is just a pen

OH jeez this used to drive me crazy. I finally decided on Clicky tops. I remember when my
Dad brought home the very first ball point pen I had ever seen. I was in grade school and he said "Hey Jim take a look at this" It was a clicky top ball point pen. Talk about cool!! the only pens we had were fountain pens. I used one of those Sheaffer fountain pens with the plastic ink cartridges and wow now we had this very cool pen that had ink in a little thin tube and they didn't leak (well kinda) it was very neat. So I was raised on clicky tops and I just think it is easier. So now I use a Parker clicky top. Silver top black bottom. very plain. Thanks for the thread it brought back memories.:)

Clicky top for me. It bugs the crap out of me to need both hands to get a pen ready to write. I've carried a Parker Classic Stainless for thirty years. I carried the same one for twenty-three years before retiring it.

Here's a vote for #4 - I don't have a preference. I have nice pens in all three varieties and don't seem to prefer one type over another. The only caveat to that is when you have a capped pen where the cap doesn't stay on the body of the pen when you're writing. That drives me nuts.

I've never been really find of pens with caps that had to be removed for use, but on the other hand I have always liked fountain pens. They I discovered I could have both!

Now, I just need to find one for less than $150.

clicky.

no caps to get lost, and can be done quickly and easily with one hand.

the twisties always seem to retract on me. and i often need my other hand for something else like a citation book or clipboard. clicky all the way.

i use the parker gel cartridge, and a parker body.

Clicky top....

Specifically the Zebra F-301...the only pen I use. I have dozens of them.

I like pens.....NICE pens, and clickies.....the combo is sort of hard to find at a decent price.

The best made clickies that I own are by Pelikan....about 10 years ago, the US distributor of Pelikan got out of the game, and they blew out the prices of the 150 and 200 series for cheap(like $20.00/pen)these currently retail for $85.00, and I regret not getting more than the 4 that I did...so those are my favorites by far.

I also like the Japanese made Rotring 600, only have one of those.....

Currently carry Michael's Fatboy New York Edition in black pinstripe....that is a great carry pen....found online for $55.00 delivered.

Okay, here's a toughie. I'm looking for a good quality roller ball pen, but it can't be capped (i.e. have a seperate cap). I can live with either clickie or twistee. I would prefer clickee, but I can easily live with twistee, as long as I can use it one-handed.

All the good roller balls I find are capped.

Any suggestions?

the rotring freeway is around $25.00.

it will accept the parker gel cartridge, which i think is similar to a rollerball.

Well Assuming you are referring to rollerballs/ballpoints.

#1 Clicky Top preferrably a Lamy 2000 ballpoint or a Parker Jotter

I can do clicky or twisty. Pen caps quickly turn into cat toys around here and end up deposited under the stove. At least twisties never open accidentally in my pocket.

Cheap clicky tops or capped if I have to. I hate twisty bottoms. I always end up getting upset with them and disintegrating them like one of my cell phones.

Check out the C Series from Cross - a very cool + excellent writing capless (twist) gell rollerball. Suggested retail starts around $90 but can be had for less if you shop around. http://www.cross.com/catalog/pendetail.aspx?cat_name=C-Series+Pens&id=AT0395-1

P.S. I prefer a screw on cap. ;)

I like the Clicky top Fisher Space pen and the capped bullet pen by them. The bullet pen stays in my pocket clipped to a small All-Ett business card holder, the other goes in my shirt pocket?

@Steven: Pelican pens? Like the cases? I'll look those up.
