Pens?

I like pens quite a bit.

The Zebra F-701 is my EDC pen. $5 at Walmart, so it's readily replaceable if lost, and there are some interesting modifications for it.

Other pens I sometimes carry include the Parker Jotter ballpoint, Parker Urban rollerball, Zebra F-301, Pentel Energel Alloy, Pilot Easy Touch/Pro, Pilot Varsity, and the Pilot Plumix.

The Varsity and Plumix are fountain pens. I really want to like fountain pens, but if these are any indication, they seem a bit problematic, picky and temperamental. In particular, the Varsity and a Sheaffer calligraphy pen I got (since I liked the Plumix's stub nib) blob out so much ink on cheap notebook paper that they are worthless. It looks like I was writing with a Sharpie. I could get better paper, but then I'd have to get better paper. Better fountain pens tend to be a lot more expensive, so I'm terrified I'll spend a lot of money on a pen I can't even use.

Pencilwise, I carry a Pentel Graphgear 1000 in .9mm. The yellow isn't my favorite color (the blue .7 model is absolutely striking), but it's a very nice pencil to use. The knurling and rubber insert is absolutely delightful. I back up the eraser with a Pentel Tri Eraser. There are also ballpoint versions of the pencil.

My daily users are Lamy Safari's.
I also use a variety of Waterman's and a Parker Duofold.

Any chance I get to buy something from Fisher, I do it. Great little American company in Nevada. If you visit Las Vegas, take a trip to their HQ in Boulder City. It's maybe an hour or so by car. Besides the famous Bullet Pen, I carry the AG-7 with me everywhere.I swapped in a bold point blue refill and it's the best pen ever.

I'm also a fountain pen nut. So I carry one ballpoint (the Ag-7) and one fountain pen. Either the Namiki Vanishing Point, the Pilot M90

or my favorite, the Pelikan 215.

Sorry, I'm lazy today and didn't take my own photos.

I've just recently "seen the light" and started carrying something nicer than a bic.

Right now, I'm using a Zebra 701, which has been modded with the metal clickie and pointier tip of the Zebra 402 pen. Makes it feel a lot nicer IMO. I also plan to add a Fisher refill to it as well.

I feel out-penned right now.

Don't worry. Pens envy is perfectly normal. Your pen is probably within the range of normal. Like Abe Lincoln said, a man's legs only have to be long enough to reach the ground. Your pen only has to be long enough to reach the paper. All that matters is that it gets the job done.

:p

If I visit Las Vegas I might have some other things to take care of.

I've been lucky to be given several awesome fountain pens over the last few years: an old style Kaweco Dia 803 (has a very sweet, very flexible broad nib), orange Sheaffer No-Nonsense, and a broken (I explained that it was fixable, but they just didn't listen) Montblanc Chopin. Ones that I've purchased are an Esterbrook SJ (highly recommend anyone interested in fountain pens buy one off the 'Bay - great pens for cheap), a 30's Sheaffer Balance with a 3 nib (this one needs some love before it'll work), and a Lamy 2000 w/ fine nib. I have to say, for favorite, it's a toss-up between the Lamy and the Montblanc for first place. It's nice that they're diametrically opposed, style-wise. One day if I ever have money to sink on a Good pen I want a Bexley with one of their gold nibs.

I use the Pilot Precise V5 stick pens (costco online purchase)

Super smooth, fine ink, works great for college note-taking.

Apart from the normal Bics, here are mine...

Top to bottom:
Cold Steel Sharkie. Sandpaper and rubbing alcohol removes the markings.
Sharpie Chisel Tip marker. Nice, flat profile.
Sharpie Pen.
Pilot Precise V5. My "classy" writing pen; no real tactical use.
Generic stainless steel pen with my name on it. Heavy.
Schrade tactical pen.
Zebra F-301 retractable, stainless steel barrel.

The only "good" pens I currently have are a Cross, Fisher bullet, and Fisher AG7. The AG7 is my edc. Its writes wonderfully and the clip is better than any other one I have seen.

I don't like lots of clips on my pockets and the Bullet is small enough to just drop in my pocket. I only clip my knife and my flashlight to my pocket. Knife for simple reasons and flashlight so it won't turn sideways in my pocket.

Pilot G2 Limited.

Not as fancy as some, but I love this pen. It writes very smoothly and is comfortable to use for extended periods of time.

Bought one of these earlier in the week. Fantastic. Not sure about the tactical use, but it writes nearly as well as anything I have ever used and that is all I've ever required of a pen (so far). The only thing I have used any better, by a slight margin, is a Zebra Sarasa. G2 refills are wonderful. IMO better than the heralded Mont Blanc rollerballs.

I picked up my charcoal Benchmade 1100 for about 70 bucks. I use it every day and hope to for many years to come. It looks pretty beat up but to me it's finally broke in. The fisher refills write awesome too.

Uniball Vision Needle
Pilot V Ball Grip
Pilot Precise V5

I've had some Cross pens, but theya re just too thin for me to write comfortably. I prefer the throw away. We have a dirty rotten filthy stinking pen theif at work. I know who it is too, this punk actually scams all kinds of office supplies.

Just wait till you get to watches. There have been some watches on my wishlist for years now. I just hope there's still some Stowa Antea 365's around by the time I jump the gun.

Watches, Pens, Knives, Sunglasses...what else would I rather spend money on? I carry a blue bullet space pen everyday. I received a Tag Link automoatic chronograph for my birthday a few month's back. Hasn't left my wrist since! I own 8 or 9 watches, but nothing that compares with the Tag. BTW I like the thread
