Back when the utilities had extra unused capacity it wasn't an issue even with the electric lights issue. It's cheap for them to process an extra 20 million litres of water, as long as they have the capacity for it but they can't charge you for it unless you actually use it.

And for the electric lights issue, a coal fired power plant pretty much runs at capacity all the time so if the power isn't being used then fuel is being wasted, hence the encouragement to use electricity unnecessarily. Now things are different, plants are really being maxed out and no new plants to relieve the pressure.

No new coal fired power plants? They're building two new ones in Gillette, Wyoming right now!! They're also building a new one down in Colorado.

Sweet, guess we can go back to leaving the lights on again. Seems like up here all they do is talk about it. I can see why though with the volatility of the Boom/Bust reciprocation we have to endure here it usually makes sense to wait for the next cycle as demands have likely waned again.

That's not nearly as bad as all of the "high fructose corn syrup" in practically everything on the shelf!!
These two items alone have more impact on the health of Americans than anything else.
If it wasn't for these, we probably wouldn't need "health care reform"!

I used to say "I hate the word Hate".

Personally, I believe a lot of the problems we face are brought on by people that have too much power and control. Power and control over Media, people, corporations, presidents, countries... etc. Once you control 99.9% of the media, the rest will fall into place after a period of relentless and suggestive innuendo and manipulation. They allow movies like "the babysitters" and then ask questions like: why "oral sex is the new goodnight kiss"

I am also not to impressed with anyone who thinks it is a good idea to turn agriculture into a fuel source. Get a clue.

The people that are all for pure electric cars, but, no nuke plants, no coal fired plants, no new dams, when the electrical grid is all tapped out don't impress me much either. We are a long long way from having the sun and the wind do it all folks.
