You can buy handmade replicas from some of the original makers but of course you are going to pay hefty prices for them.

The funny part is, those custom replicas are arguably better than the movie set "originals". Production replicas from mass-market outlets are only knife-shaped objects.

I would have to say that the Rambo 4 replica is the exception to replicas being pretty but also pretty useless it's made of 1095 ( at least the hibben iv which I am buying) and it's a no frills machete the classic sharpend pry bar knife and it seems to be well worth 40 bucks and I bet it would give a busse a run for there money

Am I wrong in this assumption

whilst a replica would never stand up to the real thing;
it might stand in until such time when the possibility of the impossible happens.
we buy "replicas" all the time, as in cheaper goods or alternatives that do just as well at a much more affordable price.

This thread is a year old...

No, I've never bought a movie replica knife.

There are many common knives that have been used in movies though, and I have at a least a couple. Buck, Gerber, Camillus... A few of these displayed with movie stills would be a neat collection idea.

Just curious if anyone ever buys replica knives, by that I mean like knives from movies and such. Like Rambo? Does anyone own a rambo replica knife? I have a Sweeney Todd replica razor. Just curious if anyone else likes this kind of stuff

I happily would; because I've seen plenty of knife looks and styles in movies and books that I really liked. However, I'll only buy true users, not wall hangers; so I don't have any to speak of. They're rare and tend to be expensive.

I bought a replica "Green River" knife. I suppose that's a replica of the historic mountain man's knife. I mean, it's a real knife meant to be used. I bought it as a blade and there have been several handles on it, this one today.

So this is a replica, meant to use, of an historic, 19th century pattern.

I'll bite, I admit I bought a replica Teminator-2 knife cause at that time I thought it looked really cool,,, still do

I think it's cooler if movies use real blades, then if people make real knives based off props...

I also want the switchblade the heavyset guy used in the abyss I think it had a stag handle

Also the switchblade knuckle duster Rene Russo had in the Thomas crown affair remake

I bought the top two in the pic below for my Brother a couple of X-mases ago, but only because I couldn't find the real thing available anywhere!

To answer your question, if you are referring to movie replicas... No, I don't. Most movie replica knives/swords are made to look pretty by hanging from a wall or in the stand they come with. They are not meant to be carried or used.

To be fair, most of the knives shown in movies are fake props to begin with. They are not functional, they only need to look convincing on the screen.
