People Who Land Deals of Day and then Disapear

I agree My first email has address and part of my CC card info. When I hear back from Yangdu I send the second email with the rest of the CC card info needed to pay.

I may be a newbie but have a tremendous amount of Respect for what Yangdu does for us.

I use an easier way for anyone supplier that doesn't have a secure server, is I send a scan of my credit card. It is a jpg, so can't be recognised as a credit card number.

Having said that, a secure server only cost me 125.00 a year in the UK. I am sure there are cheaper companies than the one I used. They host the site, you go there, pay your money and you get a notification of a transaction. You log in to the site 'print screen' and then delete the entry. From the printed copy, you enter the payment into your credit card terminal.

Hi Monk:

Would you tell me about the deals of the day? What are they and where can I find them? How often are they offered? I'd like a Penn Kuk.

Thanks, Steve

Hello Steve

You just have to look for a posting like this one and get in quick. Having said that, there seems to be three unsold from the other day.

It pi$$e$ me off to think that some Googling web-surfer stumbles in here by accident, orders a fine piece of authentic art at a steal, then skips out on payment. Those people don't deserve the time-of day, let alone a DOTD khukri. That's why I'm sorry to see the old reputation-points system go away. :grumpy:

Although Bladeforums features well in search engine placement and indexing, it is unlikely that anyone would get a deal of the day by googling. In most cases the deals go to members in less than an hour.

I agree with your sentiment though, you don't say 'yes' and then wonder how you are going to pay for it? In deals I do on e-bay I pay within an hour at most, often in minutes if the person is online and can tell me the shipping.

Then if the money doesn't arrive, the blade just sits there.

Good suggestion is to give a deadline on a certain date! Three days or whatever is agreed on as the official due date.

Uhhhh, what do I know? Nuttin at alllll!

Make It A 48 Hr Rule--if You Post And Or Send An Email-you Have 48 Hrs To Pay--otherwise The Next Post And Email Gets It--or If There Wasnt One It Goes Back On The Forum On The Next Ybb Offering--credit Card And Paypal Only--post The Requirements With The Ybb's--that Way Everyone Knows The Rules--gives Those Who Changed Their Minds After Posting An Out--and Gives Those Who Werent First A Second Chance--and Doesnt Leave Yangdu And H.i. Hanging

Recently I purchased my first Khukuri from H.I. Like every other deal I've made here I payed by U.S.P.S. m.o. So because of some dead beats I am shut off because I don't use Pay Pal?

No, DM, there are several ways to pay for your DOTDs. I don't like PayPal either. It wants me to register my bank account...nope, sorry. Not doin' that. Yangdu is flexible when it comes to payment. A trick that some of us use is to pay the amount of the DOTD that we want on the HI website in other products. For example, i used my Visa to pay for an 85 dollar purchase deal of the day by going to the site and ordering 3 smaller knives that came up to 85 dollars. Or, you could let Yangdu know that you are sending a check. Just mail her a check, and she'll send your knife when she gets the check. I know the first few knives I bought from Uncle Bill i bought on COD. After a few times I became a regular customer and he would just send out the product knowing that my check was soon to be in the mail. Just talk to Yangdu. If HI is anything, it is fair.

What Steely said Dragon Man. I'm sure Yangdu appreciates money orders as then she doesn't have to have Paypal fees deducted. But it is more convenient for everyone I think to send money right away, at least it is for me.

I tried sending CC info, and then checks, but then finally just got PP going. It also gives me an archive of everything I send, so I can go back and track dates, amounts, items bought, etc., etc.

I had a few issues with PayPal so I stopped using it three years ago. Now I pay cash at shows and U.S.P.S. m.o.'s on the net. I have have good dealings with dealers, on BA, TB, and here. While I appreciate the fact that you can't tell a flake until they flake, why should I who has never flaked on a deal be required to use a method of payment that I won't use? Just my $.02.

Like we have said, I don't think a money order is a problem if you aren't into instant gratification. Yangdu will just send the knife when she gets your money order, I'm sure. Just send her an email like you normally would with your name and address and let her know that you are mailing a money order and that she can expect it in two days. She'll probably hang onto the knife that long. It's like one of the regulars sending a check. I think the main problem we are having is Yangdu sitting on a pile of knives that were "spoken for" without payment. If you have established yourself as a good customer, then there is no problem here. I actually would rather send a check than go through the hastle of using the website or uncomfortably using paypal. However, Yangdu takes care of me, so I like to take the guesswork out of it. She has her money in a matter of minutes instead of days, and nothing gets lost in the mail.
These are not concrete rules we're talking about. It's that new sharks need to know that they ARE expected to own up and send their money if they snap up a DOTD. Yangdu is fair, but does not have to be as leary of one of her regular customers as she would be with Joe Blow out of Somewheresville.
So to sum up, you don't NEED to use a different method if you clear it with Yangdu first. Many of us just go through a couple extra steps for her accounting sake. Happy khuk hunting.
