People Who Shouldn't Have Knives

I've told him it's a tool multiple times, but he doesn't seem to listen. It's like that one unpredictable guy at the range. How can I not be a little frightened?!

I do love knives and flicking them too. Why would I be on bladeforums if I didn't? Didn't think this would turn into a huge flicking debate haha

I have a "non-knife" friend that was trying to flick a $1 Walmart lockblade just last weekend. I had a Kershaw Zing on me at the time, and he didn't see the difference between that and the POS he got for $1. Like I'm the idiot for not buying the $1 knife.

you should care. everyone today has the ability to take photos with their phone, or maybe make a call to law enforcement and report someone waving a knife around. be responsible and use common sense when and where you flick your knife.

For me it has nothing to do with getting into trouble. I don't flick my knives open and closed in front of people because it's the polite thing to do. Not everyone is comfortable around knives. Especially ones they see as "switch blades" even if we know they're not.

Knifesturbation, flicksturbation, flipsturbation. I learn so much on these forums.

I agree, knife etiquette was always common sense. What's changing is that where the average bystander might once have been annoyed, now they may be in fear for their lives.

Quoted FTW.

FWIW, my favorite "fidget" object is a length of rope and a list of knots.

EDIT: Knot and ropework requires cutting tools. It's a good way to introduce somebody to the hobby.

that person who pulls up to a stop sign about the same time you do so you wave them to go, then they wave back at you to go, then you wave a little harder as to say c'mon dude I waved first, then they wave back a 2nd time and you're like screw it I'm going but as you go you see they also decided to go so your wavefest was for nothing

You sir never...EVER...want to move to Portland. This happens daily. At this point I give them one wave. If they hesitate. I just go.:D

I pull up to a four way stop and everyone (at all four corners ) just sits there. I'll wait for a year, just to see which guy is gonna make the move. The anticipation is delicious.
