Here is a Canadian e-store which states it's Pepper Spray is legal in Canada!

http://macecanada.com/canada/sabre.htm

Is Pepper Spray legal in Canada ?

Is this type of Pepper Spray less effective ?

I am definitely confused because:

http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/C-46/S....html#rid-81483

I was hoping a fellow Canadian would answer this, but since it has not yet happened, I will relate what several Canadian friends have said. Apparently, in Canada, the issue is whether something is carried as a weapon to use against people. If a Canadian law enforcement officer asked why you carry a pocket knife, the proper reply is to say it is a tool, because if any mention is made of self-defense against people, then you may be arrested. I have been told that OC spray is legal for use against animals such as dogs and bears. Please take this for what it's worth, and not legal advice. You may want to try asking this question on another forum, such as the Spyderco forum, where many Canadians post regularly.

Okay, now... as a fellow Canuck knife nut I will step in.

Mace and Pepperspray is legal if it is used for protection against animals (and is made to specifications for against animals). It is not considred a weapon in law then. You cannot carry a weapon in Canada (legally) unless your a Paramedic, LEO, Firefighter or physcially handicaped (non-firearm) to the point were you cannot defend yourself on your own. There is a Concealed Weapons and Firearms lisence but is impossible for a normal citzen to obtain (it's usually issued to ex-cops, Jury members, key witness etc. in Orginized Crime cases)
If you live up North (NORTHERN CANADA) were Polar Bears are a threat you can carry a Handgun (if legally obtain which is hard to do, and the same goes for long-guns) for protection against Wild Animals. As long as it not concealed and is not carried in Govenrment Bulidngs, Schools, Bars etc. And approval from the local RCMP office (only during certain seasons) not many people know about that. Jack, I think you know everything else about knife laws.

If anyone has questions, e-mail or PM me. I'm not a nOOb (this is just my first post on Bladeforums), and to put to rest any fears I'm not a lawyer.
