Peppers!

Looks good man! I'm gonna try alot of different peppers in my garden this winter for sure.

Looks realy good:thumbup:. This is my first year growing Jalapenos How do you now when they are ripe? I pick one the other day Good flavor but HOTTER THAN THE HUBS of HELL.:D

Well, you can wait until they start to get a tad bit reddish around the tip, but normally I just wait until they get the right size: about 3 to 4 inches. Or you can wait until they start to form white lines in them. The more color they get the hotter they will become. As soon as you see those lines though, pick them. They wont get any bigger or hotter. The ones I ate were plenty hot and were only green. I am not a light weight when it comes to spicy foods, but there is a limit on what is "fun/good" to eat.

mmm jalepenos.. my jalepeno plants are chest high and loaded. for some reason this year's crop is extremely HOT. i mean HOT HOT.. i have some thai hot peppers planted next to them. is it possible they were cross polinated took some of the heat from the thai's?? i never looked to see if it were possible.

That looks great...thats not a bad idea smoking them...I dont think Ive ever had anything smoked that I didnt like...I dont think Ive ever had anything that involved bacon that I didnt like either.

Wow, I'm hungry. I like this RAT forum. It's all about awesome knives and really good food. Haha, crabs, bacon peppers, pork, what's next?

not necassarily... the heat of peppers comes from the sun, water content and sometimes the length of stay on the plant.. i have some red jalepenos that come off the plant that gets less sun light than others and it wasnt hot at all but the plants that are in the sun more are hotter than hell:D

Looks good, I love peppers. We have had a major Blight here in Pa. thats done in most everyones Tomatos. After seeing your post Ill be out looking to buy some peppers today. I like hot bananna peppers lightly fried with garlic and olive oil. Between to slices of bread w/slice of tomato and good to go. Then spend the next day very close to the bathroom. But I cant help myself.
