We ended up celebrating FD yesterday and had a blast playing with knives and getting outdoors. I made it a point to use as many knives as I could find tasks.
Breakfast was eggs, cheese, and jalapeno cut up using the Carothers field knife.

Then I cut up some garlic and steak to go in a mustard / garlic / soy sauce marinade for later. Used a BHK nomad for that task. Odd looking knife but am liking it more and more as I use it.

Next we went to a hiking trail by the house that has a little river flowing through it. Got to see some of the wildlife and brought along my W.A. Surls Minuteman. The brown water snake was not a problem but about 15' away was a very large copperhead. Didn't snap a pic because if I spooked him he would go down stream to all the people in the water. Allen's knife is a beauty!! It's hard to capture how good it really looks in a picture. We had fun floating down stream in the current.

After getting back and cleaned up it was time to get a fire going for dinner. It's the time of year where no one carries firewood here so I headed back behind the house to hunt down a dead tree. The NMFBM made very short work of the hard wood in that tree. After I got the tree back to the yard, the wife used her Silky saw to cut the rest up while I got the fire ready. Just for fun and because it begs for it, I decided to pound the NMFBM through the biggest knot I could find. It honestly took me longer to pound through this solid knot then it did to cut the tree down. I ended up having to use a 3.5' section of 2x4 full swing to pound through it.

After it was all set up I used the BK-15 to prep the starter wood. It had been raining off and on all day so the wood was soaked. It took a little longer to catch but ended up working out. While it was starting up I used the T.M.Hunt trailing point Magua to cut up a habanero. A glass of bourbon and a cigar was also acquired during that time.

While we were waiting to get a good coal bed we decided to play with our knives and snap some more pics. Both my wife and I had our Flemming knives and Z had his Fiddleback runt that he traded my brother for. Flemming makes some really nice knives. I am thinking my wife's may wander off somewhere. I also am really impressed with the quality of the production Fiddlebacks. You can tell that there is still a lot of care that goes into them. That runt fits his hand perfect and the sheath is amazing. My wife used her knife to cut some slits in the potatoes before wrapping them in foil for the fire.

While she did that, I used my knife to cut some skewer holders and get all the food on the fire.

After dinner they surprised me with my father's day present. A mini forge / foundry that they, along with my dad, made by hand. I also got a build-a-bear and a hand made picture frame.

Now it was time for dessert. Z used his nesmuk BHK to cut some bacon for the fire.

The bacon was for the chocolate graham, dark almond blueberry chocolate, bacon smores. I wish I could explain how good they were. Words just wouldn't do it.

Then it was time to take a hint from the pooch. Sit and relax.

All said and done I don't know how this day could have been any better. Thanks' to all the wonderful makers on here for the tools they provide. I love knives and family time so this really was the perfect day. I am so blessed to have a family that loves knives (almost) as much as I do. I hope you all have a wonderful Father's Day and get some time to get out and use some knives. Thank you for looking at the pics.

Awesome post! Thanks for sharing. You've got a wonderful family.

That looked like a fantastic day! Thank you for sharing.

And bacon s'mores, mmmmm never knew such a thing existed. Mind blowing.

Love all your fixed blades. I'm in search of one now and really would like to get a Fiddleback Forge but they're a little pricey but I'm sure they're worth it. Thanks for sharing looks like a blast!

Thanks for sharing, bacon on S'mores.... hmmm never tried that, actually sounds pretty damn good!

Nice photos. Did you get that Fleming with the ghost scales at Blade? He had one and I went back for it and it was gone. Just curious.

Looks like a great Fathers Day!

Thank you all. I don't think I will ever go back to normal smores. Yup, the ghost jade Flemming was from Blade. My wife got that one and I got the one that looked like it had bacon scales. The Fiddleback production models still give you a VERY nice knife for a bit less coin. I would check them out. Also should mention that the jalapeno cutter is actually a Carothers / Lorien collaboration.
