Perfect Knife?

I have so many custom knives from many different makers. I don't want to list them, as I do not want to leave someone out.

Agreed Suz, from what I have handled in your collection and the knives of others, there are SO many custom makers who make an excellent knife!

Victorinox (officer model)
Buck (Mayo TNT model)

I've owned numerous $400.00+ knives and the best thing I've handled so far is that cheap little Victorinox officer that I could used here from someone on the exchange. Used to not carry anything but another brand that will remain nameless but their QC got so bad they simply were no longer worth the money. In terms of fit and finish the little officer knife blew everything I previously owned away, no contest. Not even close visible differences in fit and finish. Additionally the buck mayo tnt may from a functional and lock longevity or durability stand point could possibly be the most well engineered knife I've ever handled.

Leu, Black Bear Knives, De Leeuw, PML, Busse, Spyderco, Strider and Emerson have all been spot-on.

Perfect is subjective. Old victorinoxes were really good. My Vic Soldier with tang stamp 01 has perfect fit & Finish. You cannot see daylight thru spacers and alox handles. My Vic pioneer red alox and vic soldier tang stamp 07 has clearly visible spay between alox and spacer. Still minor issue.

But I haven't had any victorinox that had blade play or lose fit. All have been really solid, excellent work knives without sharp edges and and such.

Perfection (in knives) is state of mind, till you find something better.

I have production folders of most popular brands including the expensive ones, so if i'd make a choice what the best F&F is from them I'd definitely choose the umnumzaan and the sebenza.
less than 1 mm between blade and liner/handle is pretty good F&F in my eyes. No play, ever. details: great. ergos: not really, but that is not F&F :D

I'd like to add the knives coming out of Bucks custom shop.My custom 110s are pretty sweet!

There is no such thing as a "Perfect Knife" that is why we buy so many of them as we keep looking for just that one (perfect knife).!! Even if you have one and you have 99 friends they all are going to disagree with you in some way or another - as everybody has a better mouse/trap and no two peoples likes are a liker.! LOL Enough said for the perfect knife. Lots come close - but no Cigar.****

That's why the OP asked about knives you've owned that sport perfect fit and finish and not knives you've owned that are the perfect knife period. While I agree that there is no "perfect" knife I do agree that certain knives have perfect fit and finish. I also think that each person can find their own perfect knife.

Sebbie...i dunno what it is about the plain sebenza but the lines, the fit, the finish...it all seems too perfect!!!

I have three that I consider the best F&F for there price range:

Inexpensive: SAK (I have Explorer, but any of them.)
Middle price: Spyderco Gayle Bradley
Expensive: William Henry

I wouldn't have thought of Victorinox, but it is true. They've always been perfect out of the box. As much as I like Spyderco, that isn't always true with them. I've never gotten a less than perfect Benchmade, either and Chris Reeve is legendary for a reason.

Most of my Victorinox knives are lacking of any obvious flaws.
Ditto the File and Wire series from Schatt and Morgan. I also have an AG Russell Swing Guard that's as flawless as any production knife I've ever seen.

Wife bought me one of these, and I certainly can't find anything wrong with it:

Maserin of Italy.

tf8s,yes,I think the fit and finish on the custom shop 110s are to a higher standard than the production 110s.

In my experience, the more expensive knives were the best in workmanship and QC. Some of the cheaper ones were very good, but I couldn't say they were 100% perfect. They did have a little nit picking thing or two. My two Busses, a NMSFNO and a SAR4, were the real deal.

the best ive owned:

sebenzas: all mine have been what i had hoped for re f/f.
hinderer: my xm18 equaled the sebenza.
alsdorf: two slippies, both beautiful.

i dont think i could expect any more from any maker than what i got with these three.

Interesting thread! "Perfection" is subjective, but here are mine:
CRK Sebenza
SAK (the best of mine is the alox "Soldier", but all are just about flawless)
Spyderco Delica
Opinel :) (OK, I lied there).

Opinel :) (OK, I lied there).
I realize that was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but seriously I've never seen a defective mechanism, wobbly blade, or ill-fitted handle on a new Opinel. And I've seen dozens of them. :)

In my experience, Sebenzas have been perfect. Might not be my cup of tea, but it doesn't stop them from having perfect F&F.
