I think I heard someone on here taking about this model and how good it was so I had to order one. It is the COMPACT. So far I really like this one. Not to heavy and seems to have everything you need. Does anybody else like this one?

Well its one of the best when it comes to minimalism. For me the "perfect" SAK would be the Yeoman and then the Explorer Plus if you don't mind the extra thickness.

I love my compacts, they have the tools that I use in a day to day urban setup.
I pair it with another knife and a small AAA flashlight and have a solid EDC combo.
Good call on getting one you will not regret it.

The Compact is great! Its my favorite 2 layer SAK. The Compact, Huntsman, Swisschamp, OH Trekker and Farmer are my top 5 old reliables.
Would love to see a Compact mod with a saw layer added
and a Compact mod with Saw and pliers layers added.
The latter would be my ultimate minimalist SAK multitool!(ok maybe add a file too, lol.)

The Compact is also one of my favorites. But as with any SAK, I start to think "well, the Super Tinker adds a real 3D phillips" and only one more layer. And after that, this other SAK adds a magnifier and awl. And before you know it, I have a 4 layer Explorer Plus in my pocket.

But the Compact is one of the most utility-packed SAKs for its size.

Victorinox Compact.

I haven't seen this one yet..damn swiss making so many good tools. It's impossible for one to keep up with everything lol.
The pen would be nice and an upgrade from my signature as this has the full size blade it looks, a pin is always handy, the mini driver is a great idea too for my glasses. I'd probably never use the corkscrew and the parcel carrier, well I don't know about that. I'm sure I'd find a use for it in my daily adventures. I will assume it is one of those tools you didn't know you needed and now that you have it you don't want to get rid of it.

I'll add this to my "to get" list for sure. I would like to try this one on for size.

I was going to say Yeoman too, too bad it is ko'd. One could put together one though, with and explorer and a compact, or maybe shrinking down one of the larger models like the swiss champ.

If it was 84mm it would be even better IMO, could it be done in a Wenger?

Cheers

The compact is a beauty, that's for sure. It's got an excellent and practical tool selection.

Still, my favorite is the Huntsman. If the Huntsman had a sheepsfoot or hawkbilled blade for the small blade, I'd consider it perfect (two spearpoint blades is unimaginative, sheepsfoot adds new capabilities).

I love my Compact, I love the full size sissors and the combo cap opener and can opener. I did a slight modification on the combo cap opener/bottle opener by thinning out the "edge" to bite into the can lid better. I just filed it a little on both sides and made sure the end result didn't look ugly. Now it opens cans like a pro and opens caps fine. BTW, the angles on that combo tool im talking about were well thought out.
I do not like the corkscrew. And paraphrasing Powernoodle, I would love it to have the corkscrew removed and the phillips tool put on instead. But it holds that tiny screwdriver in case a pair of glasses gets a loose screw....

Compact is great, really want to pick one up. Personally, I find the Climber to be just about perfect for EDC (and don't forget the Rambler!).

Really wish I could get my paws on a Yeoman, wow, awesome 3 layer!

for me-- like some wise man have said before-- the perfect SAK is the one you have with you when you need it... =)

yes, i love compact... it's one of the great minimalistic saks model.
but i'll be happy if they have the model in 84mm.. like waiter with scissor... bantam or waiter is also fine for me since i always bring a slim alox ambassador with scissor on my wallet. the fun is in the creatifity u use it... ask carl (jackknife) about it hehehe..

Never had one. Looks cool. I'd like to grab one in the future. With my outdoor lifestyle for minimalist carry is a camper, huntsman farmer or hiker. I like to have a saw. I can't recall a SAK that I didn't like though.

The Compact is great. Mine followed me for a long time as an EDC. What I missed a little was a secondary blade for the "dirty" works.

I'd vote for the Deluxe Tinker with Alox handles and a pocket clip - just wishful thinking.
