Perhaps we need a gun subforum....

We need to do something to save what remains of the poor guy's sanity, but I don't think another forum would help. People could post threads in Community instead of in a gun forum just as easily as they post them in Community instead of Gadgets & Gear or Practical Tactical....

What about creating an "open" forum - free discussion as long as it's not W&C material?

Ok, ok.....bad idea....

Can I have a bubblefish now, please?

:p

While my sanity is fully intact my patience is wearing thin. I have tried numerous times to direct people to the correct forum for posting gun stuff and anything that would be considered G&G worthy. Hell, my sticky at the top makes it very simple but people don't take the time to read it. I have moved at least 5 threads this week for various reasons, most of them gun related. All I ask is that they read the damn sticky. And while it isn't that hard to move a thread it becomes bothersome when I have to move as many as I am.

This area is intended for announcements, humor, off-topic subjects, planning get-togethers, and general chit chat. Blah

you would think asking about guns or anything would fall under "general chit chat"

If you can still read the thread from the forum it was removed from ....why remove it????

Did you read this?

"Gadgets& Gear: He who dies with the most toys - wins! Your place for discussion of flashlights to firearms and all cool things in between!"

Gun discussion clearly belongs in Gadgets & Gear.

And secondly.....I don't want to hear a bunch of whiners complaining that they can't find the thread they started. I use the "move" feature as a courtesy to the members who start threads in the wrong forum. Unless of course you would rather me to be a total dick and say screw it and just move it and let them look for it on their own. Would that be better?

Why would anyone get upset over a moved thread? When a moderator moves a thread he is doing you a favor.
Because some people think that their thread belongs in the forum they put it in and are afraid it won't get exposure when it gets moved.

ken... boards like this are a fun diversion for me and i hope it is fun for you too....getting worked up about such trivial things is silly... :)

Ken, just keep doing what you think best.
I believe you should "move'um all and let God sort it out" :D

Tell that to the guys who get pissed at me cuz' I moved their thread. I try to keep things nice and orderly in the Community Forum but some people have a problem understanding where things belong. If it was once and awhile that I moved something I wouldn't care but I have been moving something every single day! By simply reading the sticky at the top of the page and following it things would go alot smoother.

If I say it is a conspiracy does this thread need to be moved now?? :D :p ;)
No. You just get banned! ;) :D

I think Ken does a fine job as moderator. And I have seen a few threads recently that were obviously Gadgets and Gear material instead dumped into another sub-forum, that Ken had to move.

However, a recent gun thread started by gajinoz and angrily moved by a frustrated Ken, should have stayed where the author put it, IMO. Not to nitpick, but the thread was originally placed into Community.

Although the subject matter was guns, the heart of the thread dealth with societal, or community issues. I didn't see it as a gadgets thread.

Gadgets threads deal with the gadgets themselves, where the importance or crux of the topic concerns brands, models, and technical questions concerning said gadgets.

Gajinoz' topic was about societal issues. For example, if someone posted a thread about gun control, it wouldn't go under Gadgets, but rather Political.

Just my worthless 2 cents.

This thread needs to be moved back to community, due to the off topic discussions.

:p

ken .... again i would advise "don't worry... be happy" .... it's just an online forum for pete's sake ... you're not running General Electric or GM

i'd ignore people who get mad at you for moving threads....who cares if they get mad .... and try not to worry too much about keeping things "nice and orderly" ...because if you keep overreacting then you will find people will "misplace" threads just to annoy you...

if you remember james mattis...he had a great way of dealing with stuff...he'd make a little joke and move/moderate as needed

btw BF.com has never been the same since he died :(

I did send that one over a bit to quickly. After re-reading the text it most certainly belonged in Political. My apologies to gajinoz for that. :(

Listen, I don't mind moving the threads but lately it seems people place things where they want to without thinking about it. That's what gets me annoyed...moving multiple threads in one day. VG is the co-mod here and he hasn't been active in moderating it in months. I love the guy but I think we can write him off as a moderator in Community. I'm basically one guy doing this for the love of the forum. Maybe adding another mod will help instead of me taking the full load. Another person I can discuss a thread with before any type of action is taken would definitely make things easier. What do you guys think?

Oh, and Cougar or another Super...please move this to the Community Forum where it most definitely belongs.

I'm sorry about the "outbursts" guys. No harm intended.

Okay, I'll move it....

I've been thinking I ought to move some of those threads and take some of the load off of you, but you've been getting them all before I log on. It wouldn't help to add another moderator unless we can find somebody who gets up earlier in the morning than you do....

As for me, it's only the pessimists who think I'm half crazy. I'm an optimist -- I prefer to think I'm half sane!

...And a great thread to be off-topic in, huh? ;)

Kev, you work in Clifton? I used to live right next door. I have a handfull of friends who live in Clifton. And I'm goin' to Pompton Plains for a buddy's birthday next weekend. Damn, if this isn't a small state :D
