Hi everyone, I just recieved a beautiful little necker in the mailbox which came all the way from Florida. It is the mid-tech neck bowie by Mr. Fred Perrin. I love the size and the design. I've seen Boker makes the same knife in different steel wich is 12c27. Mine is probably made from 440c. I am not sure because they didnt say in the website where I got it from. I am thinking of getting the knife with 12c27 next time because I loved the knife alot. My question is are they both made in the same place? what does mid-tech mean? how are they different other than steel? thank you.:)

mid-tech means that parts were machined and it was finished by hand, so its halfway a handmade knife. this results in a more polished end product than is possible with just machines chris reeve knives are like this and darrel ralph and some other respected makers have a mid-tech line. Your just going to get a better product all the way around.
I have the pleasure of owning an origional perrin bowie and i love it, its alive in my hand.

Also if you have the knife in your sig photo your a lucky man, it looks like a burn knives, correct me if im wrong.

Just one clarification, I believe CRKs are finished by hand (fitting washers/blade/pivot, etc.).

thank you for answering my question mr. razorsdescent. Yes, it is the folder from burn knives, but unfortunately I dont own that knife yet but I'm hoping I will be able to afford it when I have the money. what a beautiful knife.

Are you sure your knife is in 440C and not 12C27.
Retailers are often lazy on this sort of details.
I think they are only made from 12c27.

I see all the neck bowies from Boker say they're made from 12c27 on the websites. I know that many of Fred Perrin knives are made from 440c. Mine is not form Boker,so I'm pretty sure that mine is 440c. Though I'm not 100% sure.
