I made this one as a custom order for delivery at Blade. I didn't put up any pictures in the pre-Blade thread, because I always like the new owner to see it in person first rather than seeing a photo.

The blade is my laminated steel, 416 stainless over 52100. Fittings are firestorm damascus (O-1 and 15n20) with Argentium silver spacers and a silver tail "button" in the butt cap. The handle is some very old spalted maple taken from a tree in front of an old Catholic church. The tooling on the sheath is what Paul Long calls "quilting" and I dug it enough to outright steal the pattern and put it on this one.

The collector requested a Persian-style clip point, but it was A.G. Barnes who first pointed out that the finished knife had a very "Moran ST-24" look to the blade. Though that was not what we were going for exactly, it certainly has a lot of that flavor to it.

One of my favourite pieces of the entire show. Even this excellent photo doesn't quite capture the visual drama of this curvacious piece. Hats off to both you and Thor on this one.

Ditto that and I don't even typically like Persian designs.

And to your point Roger, it demonstrates how images on the internet can't replace actually seeing and handling knives at shows. No matter how good the images.

Nice, very nice. The guard really adds spice to an already beautiful flowing fighter. Congratulations!

One of my favorite knives of the show also.. Fantastic piece Burt it was really good meeting you.

Moran style for modern times:cool:
That is truly stunning. Definitely going down on my "when I win the lottery" list;)

Awesome, Burt!

As I know from personal experience :D .......

even the best fotos cannot completely convey how cool the laminated blades look, as they have subtle highlights from different angles, almost like the chatoyant woods do.

the flow of this blade/handle combo is great as well

super dramatic!
Burt, you make such awesome knives.

I'm gonna pretend I don't like it so that I don't have to feel any jelousy toward the owner..

Horrible piece!

Yeah, the owner brought it over and showed me. I thought it was awesome! Lots of character that the photo can't pick up. BillF is right, photos just don't show everything you get in your laminates. He and I know that first hand!

Ya done good, Burt!

That is gorgeous. What a fantastic knife. The shape, the hamon, the materials, the hardware, everything about is exceptional. The sheath is pretty darn nice as well.

That's killer Burt. It was good to talk to you at the show thanks for showing me how work my camera.

You never cease to amaze me with your creations. They just get better and better. That knife is stunning!
