And yet another luminary chimes in. If I'm even one tenth as sharp as Sandy when I'm 80+ years old, I'll consider myself fortunate indeed.
 
Jerry, I've never met you except on these boards, but I've been a BIG fan of your knives for a long time. You truly have a gift for design and craftsmanship, which naturally explains why you have so many orders. Getting my hands on one of your Massive Retributions has been one of my goals for several years. Despite all of that, although I'm sorry to hear that your craft has taken such a toll on you, I certainly don't hold your decision against you in any way. Not to say that my opinion does or should affect your decision at all; I would just llike to let you know that even as a huge fan of your work, I respect and understand why you have to do this, and also wish you the best. Good luck with the future.

Jerry, I wish you all the best and hope that, with time, the pain of losing your friends diminishes to a point that is bearable. We shared one of the those friends who died in an accident.

I still remember the first time I held a Hossom -- the Retribution. It was an unsharpened sample for training. Even unsharpened, the fit finish balance and artistry blew me away. here's a pic of me holding it from that first use, with CJ Caracci...
