I decided to give myself a Christmas present this year, one that I could not expect from my wife (sigh!). So, I gave myself the first non-Spydie folder that I have bought in over 10 years, a BenchMade 720 Pardue Axis. It arrived last night, and it is a pretty little thing. It has a 3+1/4" blade in plain ATS34 steel and a plain edge in a sort of clipped point form. The scales are of milled aluminum and are SOLID. I call it little in comparison to my Military, StarMate, or Carnivour, all of which approach 4" in blade length and seem a whole class of size larger. The Pardue feels more like a BF Native, except that it is rather heavier. This is my first BenchMade and the quality is first-rate, all joints are tight, all things fit as they should, and it looks right.

One comment, however, from a confirmed Spydie addict. To paraphrase the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, "If it only had a hole."

Tis the Season for receiving as well as givin' sounds like a nice knife, haven't had one to hold but I've like the other Benchmades that I have had so I'm sure it's tough. That axis lock, that'll be something to get used to!

Merry Christmas!
