Personal dust protection?

That's a good idea Stacy! Is that something you are going to build yourself, or something store bought?

I will build the multi-port system. The air supply is a unit for paint spray booths. It has a bower and two large HEPPA filters. It comes with two long hoses, which I will run to the ports in the hot shop and the grinding room. The blower unit, which is pretty loud, will be upstairs away from all dust, so the filters should stay clean for a long time. I already have four or five PAPR helmets, so several people can be plugged in at one time.

Hmmm. I wonder. Have you ever seen the movie The Andromeda Strain? :-)

kind of.....What I did was take the temples off and replace them with a rubber band.
Hmmm. Ok, thanks. I definitely need “cheater” lenses. Right now I have stick on lenses inside of goggles... but I am not really thrilled with the gaps around the goggle lenses

Maybe you should put some scary music on whenever you are running that clean air supply system :)

My neighbors are used to me now, but when the wood/machine shop was out in the back lot and the smithy/grinding room was on the side of the house I caused some concern. I would wear the full Breathe Easy system with the backpack that holds the battery and blower with the three filters. It was too much trouble to take it off when I walked out to the shop to drill some tang holes or such, so I just kept it on and running. People would see me coming in and out in that gear and I am sure they thought I had a meth lab. I had a couple of police cars slow drive down my dead-end street, back down the street, and then cruise down the street that ends at my back lot. If I saw them, I would go out and say, "Hi. Can I help you?" Once they knew what the breathing gear was, it was cool.
I have a bunch of pharmacy hooded suits that I got in a lot with some hoses and batteries hoses. I have occasionally worn one when doing something that really makes a lot of dust/grit. I don't wear it outside the shop because I can imagine what people would think if I looked like one the scientists in The Andromeda Strain.
