Personal Opinions Regarding What Constitutes "Combat" Dedicated Folders

everyone is so picky about it. but the truth of the matter is that when your life is in danger, and youve got nothing else, you will have no problem plunging a screwdriver or a pencil into someone.

but of course we are all alowed to be picky. generally speaking in self defense you would use anything you could. but thats self defense. if you had to use something on a day to day basis as a "Combat" knife, ide say get a fixed blade. my extrema ratio fulcrum two can tear someone into very tiny, non threatening pieces, yet it wieghs more then many of my fixed blades, and can be uncomfortable to carry depending on what your wearing.

if i had to choose a tactical folding knife, it would probably be one of these .

I think part of the problem is defining "combat".

com·bat: Take action to reduce, destroy, or prevent (something undesirable).

To me, a combat knife, would be a knife used by military personnel in a theatre of war, not something you take to work to savage boxes.

For these reasons, it would either be a tough fixed blade, or a bayonet. Not to say folders wouldn't have their uses in day to day routine, but in "combat" no.

Back in ye olden days people fought wars with sword and shield, probably carried daggers as a last ditch weapon if anything.
Today we use guns, what do people carry as a backup to their gun? Another gun, then maybe a bayonet.

I think anyone selling a folding TOOL as a "combat" knife / offensive weapon is just cashing in on the "tactical" "survival" "zombie" craze.

SD is something different entirely and has legitimate claims for day to day urban carry.
