personal safety plan?

The principal at the school where my wife teaches suggested that the faculty each have a "personal safety plan" in case of martial law, pandemic, etc.

I suggested to her that, in a serious emergency, she get our daughter (at daycare a mile down the road from the school), and hole up at the school. I then would try to reach her as soon as I was able. The school has water, food, a generator, infirmary, etc. It is a rural school, and we live in a rural area.

Is this a good idea? I'd welcome any other suggestions.

I think it is an interesting notion. It is hard to imagine a situation coming on so fast that she wouldn't be able to leave, get your daughter, and get home. I suppose, the teachers would have to stick around until the students were evacuated in a given situation. The idea of staying at the school is ok, as long as there is some to operate the generator and care for folks in the infirmary.

I give the Principal credit for even suggesting the idea. I think that few folks in a similar position would think of mentioning anything like that.

Very interesting. I have gear in my car that will help me if I need to get home from work on foot. I haven't thought about being stuck at work though... Who would I eat first... :)

LOL with that in mind, it's a good time to hint about a disease that taints you, removing you from the food pool. a contagious one would be worse than none. and an STD could seriously impact options for a single guy...;)

I think its a good idea for her to wait for you... The best plan to have is where you got plan B and maybe even plan C ............. shit can happen but in real life it more then likely would be diahriea and no TP to wipe the ass.... Sorry about my french words

The school is better provisioned than our home by far, and there would be no risk or hardship if travel were difficult. I got the idea from the woman who is responsible in part for maintaining the facility - she says this is what she would do even if it were not a problem to get home.
