Petition to remove firearms ban from National Parks

This took a whopping 30 seconds to do. Probably would be shorter if I wasn't eating at the same time. Sign it guys, it would be worth it!

I'm number 537...this is a good thing!

I hope this generates some momentum; I need to post on some other forums and get some bigger visibility. I won't go outdoors with out a gun...period. I would like to do it legally, but until the state/federal government can guarantee the safety of my family, it's my responsibility to ensure it.

Just wondering why you need a firearm in a National Park? Not poking the skunk, just wondering what the motivation is. Is it for protection from people or the animals? People I can understand, animals, not so much.

It goes beyond actually NEEDING a firearm in a national park, however, one thing is scum isn't limited to city streets, they can easily enter a national park. They won't follow our current laws.

Why should honest citizens not be allowed to carry firearms in a rural wilderness area when criminals disregard rules and laws, and carry them? Obviously if some wack job decides to do anything to someone in a national park there is no nearby help, in many cases, cellphones don't even get service, even if they did its too big a place for any help to come and find you in time.

Just a point of interest, but the online petitions are notorious for being useless.

If you want to really to do something about this then write a letter and send it to them snail mail.

Signed, # 611.

Hopefully, with the Secretary of the DOI being from Idaho, this will actually have a chance of passing.

For my part, I would be very hesitant to travel in the back country of Denali or Glacier Nat'l. Park without a firearm. While I have no interest what so ever in shooting a Grizzly bear, likewise I have no interest in being eaten by one.
