On a whim, I thought I would put up a piece of pewter and see if there any collectors here. I bought a lot of these and have 10 duplicates.
These are by Donald Polland who passed away in late 2003. This pic was hurried and not good quality. If there is an interest I can take better detailed pics.
This one is called "The Rescue" and was done in 1975. Has the stampings. It is numbered and was only 2500 of this one. It is one of Pollands first 10 done in pewter. I have 8 of the first 10 for sale and two later ones.
This one has the Lance stamp on the bottom and doesn't have the wood base that newer ones have, after Lance and Chilmark merged. The older Lance ones are more rare and more collectable.
I also have "The Buffalo Hunt" (1975) and "The Cheyenne" (1973) that are early Lance. These three pieces are the first in the 10 piece series.
I have seen Remington, Boyette, and some others in Bronze and Pewter and I believe the detail Polland went to is above and beyond. One example the rope in near all his pieces is braded versus flat thin wire.
These three pieces are $350 each, which is what I paid for them and supposedly below collector value, but we know how that is...
More detailed and better pics if interested. These pieces have been well cared for....
Other pieces, Cold Saddles Mean Horses, Painting the Town, The Outlaws, Crow Scout, Counting Coup, in the first 10 and in th e1974/1975 time frame. Another is called Spirit of the Wolf (1992) and a small one called Buffalo Spirit (1990) which is in its original box and never displayed.
I will include copies of any documentation on these pieces, and I have quite a bit. Note I said copies, as these are duplicates in my collection.
I will also consider a lot sale on the 10 pieces.
