Uncle Bill, maybe you should include a little card with the first khuk for newbies along the lines of:

HIKV Warning:
Uncle Bill Martino has determined that buying these superb tools may cause sleepless nights and reduced bank balances. If you are reading this it is too late... HA! HA! HA! GOTCHA!

Just wanted to report, it's an awesome blade. This makes lucky number 7, and my first lighter blade. The others range from a 16.5" Chiruwa AK to the 22" GRS (Thanks Firkin!). So the lighter 17," GS surely zips around, feeling as light as a wood ruler compared to the others.

Quality is first-rate, good blade finish and the sharpest one so far. Bura must have been in a hurry since his mark is just the bowl, no wavy lines that I seem to recall on his Chiruwa AK that I have. Looks almost like a crescent moon.

The horn handle is nicely done (how does an aspiring woodchuck end up with 1/2 his knives having horn handles?), especially th buttcap does not stick out to jab m like some others. C & K excellent and karda pretty sharp, and little sign of the repair Uncle Bill mentioned in his sales pitch.

Scabbard is good and tight (really the first blade that does not rattle inside its scabbard, although that's probably because the scabbard is simpler due to the relatively straight blade). A good flowing design to the tooling, but the frog is a little loose. I need to figure out the scabbard tightening (i.e. just suck it up and try it) and fix all of them to my liking.

All in all, an excellent blade and excellent value! I think I've found a new "repel boarders" knife. That and unfortunately (for my bank account) opened my "research" to the lighter blade styles.... Thanks Uncle Bill!

Sounds like a nice catch!

IIRC Bura's mark is the crescent moon, I think the bowl (butter lamp?) mark is one of KNN's, as well as the one with the flame.

Maybe you linguists can help out here. Isn't there an old Nepali saying that translates into something like, "Happiness is a tight scabbard?"

 ;) :D

Rog,
THEY DO THAT TO POINT OUT TO you & THAT heathen(PAXTON),they don't wish to be associated with the hikv cult!!:)

Puleeeeze!...No more about tacos!

hikv cult!!

CULT? CULT?!! Who asks their members to "donate" khuks when they join a certain Cave Cult, are asked to give up their lives and work underground polishing Durbas and tending to the one-legged dancing girls (ok, I'll give you that one, that's a perk;) :D ). We the afflicted HIKV sufferers just try to get through life, and buy a khuk only when we HAVE to, to ease our suffering and help the People of Nepal at the same time. YOU sir are a deciever of men, luring them to the cave with your siren song, never to be heard from again!!;) :p :p :D
