Phantom Pain

richardallen,

Although our paths may never cross anywhere other than here, please know that your words, and the pain carried with them, have not fallen on deaf ears. I hope you find peace along your journey.

:(

It has only been a few months. It gets better eventually. I used to write some less eloquent sad stuff. I got choked up once because I passed by a parking meter we put money in together once. A few years from now (if you don't do anything stupid), you'll see the humor in it. I got rid of the stuff after a few years. The writing is probably good for you, but try not to dwell too much on it.

The best revenge is finding someone infinitely better than her. Though at this point you don't really think one does exist.

It's the height of irony - pain makes us feel entirely alone. Like there's nothing outside of ourselves and that tight little ball of agony.

In fact, it's our common currency. We've all felt it, or will feel it, or both. It's the thread that connects us - the capacity to feel pain is part of what makes us human.

Smoke. Prayers. You will come through - though for a while at least you may not want to.

Bill, thanks for reminding me about that C.S. Lewis book. Been years since I read it - very worthwhile.
