So I have been trying to distill down my collection recently with the new baby. I decided on a new direction for my collection (many know this already).

Step one was to distill down my production knives/acquire one to get what I felt like were hands down THE BEST production knives available for my EDC rotation. After acquiring my Sebenza this morning, that is done.

Here are the top 4 production knives IMHO. The four best companies are represented with what I feel are their best models:

ZT0777m390- The best piece ever produced by the best major manufacturer out there.

Lg Sebenza 21 Insingo- Not much more can be said about a Sebenza. I like the Insingo blade the best.

William Henry E10- Their 'budget' line which is still finished to the levels of their collector pieces.

Hinderer XM-18 3in non-flipper slicer- nuff said. The best version of the XM-18.

Step 2 is still a work in progress. Done with my productions and moving on to my customs.

Get real scurvy, we both know the 0454 is way sexier than the 0777. :p :D that is a beautiful line up there, though!

I figured there may be done debate between the 0777, 0454 and 0888. I like the 0777 blade shape better so it wins for me.

To each their own, I like how slim the 0454 is along with the composite blade...the 0777 is an amazing knife none the less. :)

I agree with you on the 0777. Its my all time favorite production knife, with the CB version being a the top of the list.

Torn between hating you for having TWO composite blade 0777s and wanting to suck up in case you want to sell one.

Decisions! :)

For cmpleteness you do need a Spyderco in there.

Negatory. Nothing in Spyderco's catalog, especially their USA catalog can hold a candle to the four knives pictured. I've had a PM2, Native5, Caly3, Kopa, Chaparral 2 etc etc etc

I don't like thumb studs or flippers. Of course the Sebenza will be better than a bunch of others, it's a $500 knife.

No benchmades? Also I thought the XMs were customs? They are production knives?

Benchmades are in the same boat as Spyderco. I would put regular production ZTs in the same category. They are all great knives but not what I'm looking for.

Xms are production knives. The customs have hand ground blades and bear Rick's signature. They command much much more money.

Never had a ZT but agree with just about everything you've said so far. Nice lineup as I have 3 of those 4 (except sub the E10 for the E6).

I don't think I could possibly narrow the list of the best production folders out there to only 4, maybe 10...especially missing at least one offering from Spyderco and Benchmade. But like you said it's all a matter of opinion, there is no right or wrong.
