Pheer 427, Esteem, or KMG?

My Esteem runs as smooth, and is as solid, as a machine costing twice as much. Go with at least a two hp motor on any machine you choose. You will be happier in the long run. I did find it very useful to add an additional tool bar receiver to my machine.

I have a 10 year old KMG. (Original was stolen in Australia back in 2004 by customs). The second one still runs like new. Thanks Rob!

I just got my new Esteem a couple weeks ago. The build quality is fantastic, it runs and tracks perfectly and Brett is a great guy to deal with.

I have recently upgraded from a Coote grinder to a Pheer 454. I spent months researching and thinking about what I wanted. The choice came down to the 454. Since I use the grinder for more than making knives I looked at the adaptability. This grinder had an additional insert for a tool rest so I could quickly remove or attach it. The tool rest is also the sturdiest I could find (no articulating arms and easily stripped aluminum). I also have the flexibility to create specific tool rests.

Jose does a good job and produces a solid machine.

What ever you choose, definitely use 2hp and a VFD. It is a world of difference from a 1hp three speed step pulley.

As for the Esteem. " I did find it very useful to add an additional tool bar receiver to my machine. " That's my only problem from pulling the trigger with the Esteem. Don't know if it's a problem but don't want to spend that amount of money and be confined to no options.
