Whats up blade forums, this is my review of the pheer grinder!
I have the base package for now and a 6 in contact on the way!
Let me say this, I've never used any high power belt grinder!
I own a High power makita angle grinder is as close as I can come to a real high power grinder!
I started building knives on a 1/30 HF! After I killed it,
I decided since I was going to push it to do this knifemaking as a buisness, I need to get the right tool! So part 1 track down a killer grinder I can be satisfied with!
So without further a due, im satisfied its high power lesson motor, sold frame, variable speed, and nearly half the cost of anything I had found!
I talked to some major players in the knife game here! They told me flat out do not get a grizzly or some kinda thing like that get a kmg or equivalent!
To be truthful I highly doubt a kmg can be any better than this from what I see on video!

The kmg is an exceptional machine but it's price is just a turn off for doin the same thing!
The pheer grinder, when I use it and push at 3600 rpm"s 1/2 in piece of d2 and ram it into a 50 grit belt! Sparks fly and there is not a single bog down or hint of stumbling!
I decided to mod the grinder to flip so I can work on the spine / tang of the knives more effectively,
Other than that I don't quite get what the flipping is used for but it's nice to have the for what I use it for now! This machine is probably my best investment in knife makeing ever !
Because, plunge lines and everything is more instant with proper abrasive power, then some crappy harbor freight! But I will say this I've made 5 knives on the new grinder already, I do go back and use my 1/30 for a quick 800 grit pass for sharpening or some fine detail work where a smaller 1in belt is better.
I believe Jose of pheer grinders does make many models, I'm verry happy with my direct drive pheer standard! I really think to myself and go god is there an extreme version and what the heck is it for, because this base version with a flat plat is killer already!
Long thread .. In short, if you need a grinder! Buy a pheer grinder! Save some cash and buy belts an steel nothing else matters.
Truth be told ..
