I'm thinking of buying some KMG arms for my Pheer grinder to modify some things. Based on measurements, I'm thinking that they should fit and work fine. Just wanted to check to see if anyone has tried first hand?

I'm glad you've asked this question. I've been wondering the same thigh. I bought a Pheer myself and am looking to buy some more tools for it

What size is the hole in the Pheer ?

Use calipers or something like that capable of a proper measurement.

A 1.500" bar will not move inside a 1.500" hole

It needs to be larger

This gets into issues of fit an finish. Things can move freely with only say .0005" of clearance. Of course this isn't a precision ground slide, or a press fit where you want interference, so I would think about .025" clearance should be good. Maybe a bit more if you want to be able to easily use more oversided stock.

Talked to Jose at Pheer today. He's gonna help me out and hook me up with what I need.

Jose has been overwhelmingly helpful and patient with every need or question I've had since I bought this grinder. I'm very pleased with my purchase!

Hey NorvTex, did you happen to talk to him or email him? I've emailed him a few times with no response. I figured he was busy filling ordera

Yeah, I called. I had emailed a few times as well, he said he's been really busy. He answers almost every time I call, so you should give him a ring.

On the grinders I build the tube comes out being 1.5 inch square. Using solid cold rolled steel for 5he arms that are also 1.5 inch square. I have a surface grinder that I put the arms on and take off about .030 on two sides this makes for a smoth fit. If im correct the Pheer arms and tube are made using hollow tubing. If this us correct you should be able to buy locally.

NorvTex since you live close by give me a call and I can get you fixed up with whwt ever you need.

Jim

if 1.5" didn't fit, a few passes on your flat platen would surely remove the needed few hundredths.

yes according to jose they are the same he uses kmg foat platens on his 454 grinders i have two of his and two kngs all are interchangeable and i also use his veriable motor controllers on other units he is hands down the cheapest and a good guy
