I've been researching Hartsfield a little lately because he's kind of the progenitor, shall we say, of my custom knife maker. I know Hartsfield basically made chisel grinds famous and lots of people like Emerson followed suit. However, I'm pretty sure Hartsfield did not only grind chisels. I've seen some models that looked like they were scandi grind. Is there any truth to that?

Well When i talked to Phil Hartsfield (Sr.) He said he would do V grinds, however he and Friend/Customer who happened to be there while I was agreed that they both preferred chisel grinds. that being said Phil Sr. Passed away in March '10 IIRC. so the shop is now up to Phill (Jr.) whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting

Could it have been a V grind to zero that Sr. did, which would more or less be a scandi?
