New, uncarried, and unused. I recently picked this knife up from Phil at a knife show, but it duplicates what I have been using.
This hunter is made by Phil Wilson, who authored a series of articles in Blade Magazine on the properties of S30v when the steel was introduced to knifemaking. I have a lot of confidence in his ability to extract the most out of this steel, including heat treating and blade geometry. Phil makes only a few knives every month.
The upswept blade is 3mm thick at the widest point, with a distal taper that ends in a very sharp point. The blade is 4.75" with a hand rubbed satin finish. Overall length of the knife is 9.5”. Very sharp edge.
Gorgeous stag handle with any uncomfortable bumps knocked down. Woods used in the front end of the handle appear to be ironwood and stabilized dyed maple(?) with blue spacers. The handle does not curve to the left or right, so it works well in either hand. The knife is handle heavy, with the balance is where the stag meets the blue spacer material. This knife feels great in the hand.
Great heavy duty sheath that makes a satisfying ‘snap’ when the knife is sheathed. The sheath involves a lot of handwork, including drilling holes for the hand set copper rivets. The side of the sheath would make a great strop and could be loaded with polishing compound for touch ups in the field. Knife will come with an Uncle Al’s zippered pouch.
$325, now $299 shipped in the CONUS.
Not looking for any trades, thanks. Paypal cash transfer and shipping to a CONUS address receives first preference. If using PayPal credit card payment, an additional 3 % is needed to the total to cover fees for payment made to my Premier PayPal account.
