First off Merry Christmas to all :)

This sword is very special to me for so many reasons

I speak of those reasons in the video so I won't repeat myself here

A little preface before the video

I shot this video the same day that I shot the video on the wonderful Mirabile Tanto

I had five matts

I rolled 3 into single roll Tanto targets and I rolled the last two into a double roll which is more fitting for sword tests

So when I was done cutting the individual rolled targets with the Tanto I brought out this very special Katana to cut the last double roll target

Now I have not cut with a sword in many years and with only one target I had no practice targets :)

So you will have to excuse my poor performance :)

I hope you enjoy the video on this very special piece and I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas

Thank all of you for being part of this wonderful forum

Big thanks to Coop for his great images

That was great! I wish I had got one of Phil's blade but never could afford them as I was raising a family.

Hey Joe: Your flowing and compelling narrative is surpassed only by the ease at which you handle your blades.

Like all the best in their field, you make it look 'simple'.

Thanks for the education on Phill, and on the Japanese katana.

I needed no such credit line at the end, but that's how you roll. :)

Coop

Outstanding video. I hope your daughter has equal appreciation for that sword. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Coops great pic spawned this video

I believe that a Japanese Katana is one of the hardest blades to capture a proper image of

Coops as always crushes it :)

So when I had Coop d these images I knew I could base a video off it

My sword handling is quite rusty but there was a time that I trained with sword ,boken , shinai for around 9 hours a week and that went on for years so I guess whAt they say about training and muscle memory is true :)

I really wish I could put that time into training again but alas life calls :)

I guess if a zombie apocolypse ever breaks out I'll do okay :)

It really is an incredible piece and I thank you all for your comments

I have another birth sword that I will hopefully be taking in to Coop in a few months

D762

I am working on a video you will like

It is for Accurate Mag and I am setting up a pet suppressed 308 on one of their new modular chassis

Should be pretty wicked

Joe,

I'd say the 9 hrs. a week for years paid off in spades, clearly evident in ALL your great vids.

What's also obvious is your love for this sword..Katana.
What an awesome cutter !

What you've done for Phill Hartsfield and his work is exemplary and it most clearly deserves it.
Coop killed it with his images.

Thanks so much for doing this wonderful thread, Joe.
Not to mention the Ben Tendick, Matt Gregory and was Josh Mason in on those PH style kwaikens ?
