Hi folks -

Recently Phillip Dobson purchased a new grinder, and he has started grinding and re-grinding blades.

I was lucky to receive, according to Mr. Dobson, his first "customer regrind". :D

Here are pictures of my beautifully reground and re-scaled Emerson, done in European Brown Oak with black paper micarta.

The blade has a beautiful swedge, and the serrations were removed, and the blade now has a 10" hollow grind on the main blade with a convex tanto tip.

Mr. Dobson polished the edges and the tip to a mirror finish, and I can easily shave with the edges.

Pictures!

Thanks for looking, and Thanks, Phillip, for making my Emo a nice looking gentleman's hard use folder!

best regards -

Thanks folks.

wongKI - the handle scales with the micarta were $82.50 with the materials and shipping (not including my shipping to Mr. Dobson).

I'll let you inquire to Mr. Dobson on how much he will be charging for regrind work.

He told me that he is interested in doing more custom regrind work with his new equipment.

You can find him at dobsonboxes at gmail dot com - his website is www.phillipdobson.com and his member name here is Phillip Dobson.

best regards

Phils handle work was/is excellent. No surprise his grinding skills appear to match. It also would not surprise me to see Dobson stamped in a blade one day in the future.

Nice work Phil.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. It's very encouraging.

I couldn't agree more.

I have a few production knives re-handled by Phil. They always came back better than I could imagine, not just flat, but with swells & contours in all the right places.

That Emerson is stunning,breathtaking!:eek::thumbup:

Hey nice work, Phil.

One of my Emersons is next up for one of your handles....may want to add some re-grinding too.

To the OP...

The micarta/other material combo is a good look on Emersons....reminiscent of Ernies customs. Yours is one of the coolest I've seen.

Can we turn this into a Dobson photo thread?

I wanna show off :D

I have to say, I don't think I've ever seen someone take an American tanto and make it look like a real tanto. Bravo!

I've long been impressed with Phil's workmanship, but even more so his sense of aesthetics.
