PHOTO: If you are into knives, learn emergency first aid for bleeding

accidents happen

I would have said something that rhymes with "spit" instead of "accidents" but yeah, proper technique isn't immune to Mr. Murphy's attention.

Besides, give me the downside of knowing the proper way to treat a wound...

accidents happen

"Accidents" like OP's happen to people who don't follow proper knife safety. I say this from personal experience, having done retarded things like drop sharp knives on my feet or play with knives many's a time myself. :o

I'll never advise against someone learning first-aid, because it's useful as hell, but folks who find themselves prone to serious self-inflicted injuries should put the sharp objects away and learn some basic knife safety. An ounce of prevention, three pounds of cure.

I cut my index finger realy bad when i went for my knife and got 5 stiches, and I put pressure on it and raised it. Before that when it frist happend(aka before i got to the bathroom) it was bleeding like crazy.

What is Bladeforums coming to? I can't believe duct tape wasn't mentioned until post #20. ;)

Glad the OP is okay, and welcome aboard. I carry an Altoid box full of 1" Band-Aids and butterfly closures in my shirt pocket every day, and there is usually a roll of duct tape handy as well. Remember, knives are not the only objects in the world with sharp edges.

Everyone should know basic first aid, even if they don't own a single knife.

Yet you thought to post pics. Good man.

Now QUICK, get your wife to take a pic of you laying on the ground with the knife in question, and chalk outline around you.

This is good for xtra points. Trust me. Do Eeet.

I carry Quick clot in my first Aid kits. My wife laughed when I told her I carry military grade blood coagulant. Hopefully I'll never have to use it but man I would be glad to have it if I ever needed it.
