Photo Request and Question - Spyderco Vallotton Sub-Hilt

Great! I may have to get one of those first, then. How is the G10 scale on it? Much rougher on the pocket than the 0566 or PM2?

I sanded down the ugly brown G-10 and then got a nice LSCF scale which made it look much better and even lighter. However, it adds another $80-$100!

There's a Black Southard coming out any day now.

That is one drawback that I've considered, but overall the brown G10 seems to review rather well. Plus, it would add some diversity to my collection.

Yes. The looks of the brown G-10 is subjective. Here's a comparison picture of my two Southards. One is kept brand new and the other is a customized user with LSCF accents.

How big are your hands? I found the Southard too small for mine.

I ride the grip high so that my index finger is tight against the flipper/guard in the open position. Plenty of room for my large hands.

Wow! That LSCF looks incredible on the Southard. I will definitely have to keep that in mind for later on once I get one.

Yeah, I really wanted to like it, just not right for me. If it was slimmer it probably wouldn't feel to short, like a comparison between a GB Air and the Techno. I carry my GB Air whenever I'm in slacks that I don't want anything clipped to, and although it's about as short as the Techno, it doesn't feel like it because it's thin. That was the same problem I had with the Southard.

If you are near Lancaster, come see one in person - a DA version at that.

Thanks, Officer's Match! Unfortunately, I'm a good couple of hours away from Lancaster, otherwise I would gladly take you up on that offer.

I am quite glad that I posted this question prior to purchasing a Vallotton. It is a truly beautiful, and from everything I've read and seen, high quality knife, but for a user, I've decided the size to be a bit too thick for my liking. I will be thinking now a bit more on the Southard, and with that, it has also spurred the idea of the Domino. Thank you all for your great pictures and input!!
