Well, I'm getting trigger happy folks, very close to pulling it, but would like to see a side to side comparison of the Montana Workhorse and Eureka, main blades extended just to see how they compare up. I have the Montana Workhorse, sweet knife too, but that Eureka is also calling my name ;)
Thanks in advance!

Here ya go, Gary:

The spring tension on my #92 is comparable to the #15.

Greg, that's about as good as I could ask for man, thanks! and, my Work horse is the same as yours, canvas micarta covers, cool.

From that photo, it looks like the Eureka would certainly be a more comfortable hold and if I softened the corner of the coping blade into a wharncliff, it would just be even better handling, argh, there goes more money lol, guess I'll have to post up something else now!
Thanks Greg!!

You're welcome, Gary. I actually find the #79 more comfortable because of the "fuller" grip, but the #92 does handle well (it's a great slicer too). Good luck with your purchase...can't wait to see the new pix when available. ;)

-Greg

Get the Eureka Gary, I haven't found the coping blade uncomfortable at all, but in fairness my paws are like leather.

I don't own the Workhorse........ Yet :-)
But I really like the Eureka, I find it hard not to carry it, I keep saying I'm going to switch up my carry but it just feels right.

Ah, yep, the Workhorse feels solid in the hand, I guess that begs the question, do you have a shot showing the spines of the handle, to see how they vary in thickness?

And Pete, I've been eyeing that one, or the smooth bone one already...sounds like it's a done deal but, we'll see ;)

Gary, this was the best I could do...hope it gives you some idea of the relative thicknesses.

-Greg

Thanks, put an order in for one of the Antique Green Bone, double bolstered version, hopefully it'll be here by the end of next week. I'll post up some photos when she arrives!

Some thread fodder just because I think these are both great patterns. Looking forward to your pictures Gary.

Thanks nice back to back, appreciate the perspective

 +1 for another Micarta #79, Sonnemann....one of my favorites!

-Greg

Yes, the Eureka's a fine and individual knife, i find it very good in the hand.

However, I'm getting well interested in the new 2 blade version of the Workhorse, especially that Ivory Bone....I think this is a single-spring pattern?

Oh Great...hmmm Great Eastern Cutlerly ;) Well, here's another Fine mess you've gotten me into ...

Well, to go ALONG with this 79

I just got THIS one right from GEC store in Titusville when they had their rendezvous there, a LOVELY 2 bladed Workhorse, these do not have half stops but that's ok by me :)

Gorgeous #79 Gary! And your photography is just outstanding!

I just ordered this 2-blade #79, hope to have it by next week. The 2-blade is surprisingly slim and I love the long-pull on the main blade. The blood red bone is what got me, I had to have this one - HAD TO!

I think you'll like it, although I also enjoy the 3 bladed one too, being a bit thicker in the hand it just has a solid heft to it. But the two blade above, is very very nice!!!

I've been looking over my recent purchases and will be moving one of my GEC's along as while I collect knives, I don't COLLECT knives if you know what I mean, unless I actually start putting them into rotation carry, I don't like them just sitting home alone ;)

But these two are keepers...for now,

I was able to handle the Eureka folder while at GEC last weekend, but wasn't swayed enough to get that after seeing this ivory!! But the Eureka is also a possible one in my near future...

edited to add that we were typing at the same time, didn't see your second post, thanks sir, photography is my other major passion, but knives win out overall, and that one you're getting looks GREAT!!!
The edges on most all of mine did need tuning up, not to bring up any sore points as seen in another thread, but, I've owned a lot of GEC's and edges being something of importance to me, sharp edges, I've had to sharpen each one on arrival. And that ivory one sharpened VERY keen, it's blade is overall thinner than the 3 bladed since they reduce down the blade to make room for the coping blade, beautiful job/design there too...

Sorry about the double-post folks, dont know how that happened, but I have trouble with my PC and this site sometimes.

I don't "collect" knives either. This #79 will be my third traditional slippie and probably my last as I don't tend to keep things around if they don't get used. This blood red #79 was too gorgeous to resist.

Don't feel discriminated against. We all have problems with the vBulletin software on occasion.

Part of the problem is the volume of traffic here on BF. The numbers of members on line at once on this site taxes the capacity of the software. Also, it's a bit buggy at times just because it is.
