Could someone point me toward a photo of the RMD and the BATAC together? Not the current BG BATAC (since I don't think anyone has received one yet), but one of the pre-O2W BATACs. I passed on the BG O2W version because the specs read like it was too similar to the RMD. But with the coming of the Jackmandu, and after getting a couple of SWATmandus and such, I am wondering if I want to to try to pick up BG BATAC off the exchange, if one happens to show up.

Or if there are no photos out there, I don't suppose someone could take one, could they?

Thanks in advance, for any info or photos.

FWIW I like the RMD a lot better, especially now that they are available in INFI. I like the BAe even more than the RMD.

I don't know why the BATAC doesn't get more love, I think they are an awesome knife and I have always liked the TAC handles

Wow my user BATAC looks so clean in these old pix! :D

Hmmmm.... Looks like a good size. But it also looks like it wouldn't do anything better than an INFImandu, except maybe prying and batonning, since it has more full-thickness blade behind the primary grind.

Please note that the RMD in the pic is an original run, and they had swedges. That may alter your perception a bit with these images. :)

Interesting. Didn't notice that. I was thinking that the unground portion of the spine of the BATAC seems wider.

I have both, I have LOTS of RMDs.....they really are like CCs !!! But I lean toward the BATAC as a preference. Either will serve you well.

But the question is, since I have a relative crapton of 'mandus, should I get a BATAC. It is a very cool looking blade, but it seems it is very 'mandu-ish, by the numbers. Ergonomics are a totally different matter. Unfortunately, very subjective there. I guess I'll have to try one myself. Since it seems that is what it comes down to, as far as differences.

I gotta be honest...my "perfect" Busse in this size would be a BATAC blade on an RMD type handle (or like the SRKW Desert Jack style of handle!), but I love them both.

The handle is more hand filling (if you have big mitts) and I do prefer the blade shape. But I have ummmm " a number" of 'Dus and two BATACs, I think the majority will prefer the Du.

Both are .187(ish)" I have no calipers, just a ruler. :)

I meant the portion of the blade between the spine and the plunge line of the primary grind. Not the thickness of the blade. I'm talking about the portion of the blade where the "Swamp Rat" or "Busse" stamp is. Not sure of the correct terminology.

Between the two of you, Jaxx and Andy, it sounds like I need to try one.

I'm embarrassed to say I have an Infidu with a patriot leather sheath that I've never used. But is thread is making me really anxious to see the two BACTAC I ordered.

My favorite so far in the TAC series, that's for sure. :)

For me personally, it's the ricasso area of that blade. Seems like a lot of unused real-estate between the actual edge and where the first finger rests on the handle.

That is the biggest issue I have with the photos of the BATAC vs. the RMD. The RMD seems to make the maximum use of the steel (with the exception of having a finger choil vs. having a sharpening choil, or no choil at all). Looking at a couple of recent postings in the exchange, it also seems the BATAC has thicker scales, and i obviously has more contouring of the scales. But I'm still leaning toward the RMD as a preferred user....

My buddy just got a Battle Grade BATAC and brought it by fir me to check it out. As much as I don't like the way it looks in pics, in the hand it feels pretty awesome.
