Dear Member,

PhotoPoint has dedicated its business to protecting your pictures and allowing you to share them easily with your family and friends. We thank you for making PhotoPoint the #1 online photography company.

To continue providing you the online photo experience you enjoy, we need to make several changes to our service in the coming
weeks. Most significant is that, starting in mid-May, PhotoPoint.com will no longer be a free service, except for limited "trial" memberships.

We believe you deserve to get real value for your dollars. For the past six months we have conducted surveys and talked directly
with members to learn what people want from an online photo company. We have built a full-service program based on value, not just storage, designed by users like you.

As a PhotoPoint Member, you will enjoy all of the current PhotoPoint features including secure photo albums and PicCheer photo postcards, plus:

- Save 5% off all print orders for the year
- Create and Save up to 5 SmashCast Movies - add music and graphics to your photos
- Store up to 1000 photos*
- Print at Home service - print photos at home like a pro
- Enjoy express customer service
- Receive our PhotoPointersTM Tutorial Series - valuable tips and tricks for improving your photography

For a limited time, you can join for an entire year for a one-time charge of $19.95, and we'll include 25 free prints (the prints alone are a $12 value). As a valued member, you also have the option of a special lower priced basic membership, which does not include prints, for just $9.95 for the year. These introductory offers will end April 30, 2001.

We want to thank you for your loyal support of PhotoPoint, and look forward to continuing to provide you with the best photo
service on the Internet. If you have any questions, please visit our More Information page

Yeah, I got the email also. It is a bummer but I guess they had to do it to stay alive. I just hope the service gets better because I have had some photos deleted by them and I have had some crappy service also. I guess thats what you get for free huh?

F*ck Photopoint !!

I posted a similar question in the Community Forum a couple of weeks ago, they just changed formats and now their service sucks and the download time is slow as sh!t.
I got lots of responses and information on other photo posting websites that do the same thing as Photopoint, just better.
Here's the link;

The link I posted is'nt working !?
Anyway, I posted a question about who else does what Photopoint does and I got lots of good answers.
If you're interested then check the Community Forum on date 3/15/01.

Donald.

Guys,

I don't particularily like Photopoint either. One of my concerns however is that we have a lot of great photos on our Emerson Custom Gallery. Lots of these photos are hosted by Photopoint.

If we chose to move our photos to another site doesn't that completely screw up all of our links to the photos that John has posted for us?

John, hopefully you can chime in here with your thoughts on what this will do, and what other options may be available. However, I'm somewhat suspicious that this could severly hinder our efforts.

Anyone else have any thoughts towards this potential problem?

Yeah, Don, I have some thoughts about the Emerson Custom Gallery; I'd be more than happy to host the gallery for you fellas at my www.betactical.com domain. Let's talk about it at Tac-chat tomorrow night, okay?

That sounds like the beginnings of a plan to me!

I only have one set of pics up on Photopoint (I guess you can see that as either good or bad) - my "Robinson" SOCFK. I still have the pics here... maybe I'll head over to webshots, see what they're like.

Hey guys, sorry, I've been busy as Hell the last couple of days!

I've been thinking about that exact issue. What I am thinking of is to paya the whapping $10 to get into the first year. I have little doubt that that rate will increase dramatically fairly soon.

In the meantime I was going to hunt up an alternate site, maybe keep two complete sets of pictures. (We have 250+ images in the Gallery and it would be ashame to loose it because a single provider goes belly up or crashe)

I think Eric's suggestion is a pretty damn good one actually, I just gotta work it out with him.

Oh and Don, yes, it's going to require a complete overhual of the links.

See, that's what I like about my Extended Emerson Family. [EEF for you acro-heads]

So many Dons and Donalds here, it pleases the eye.

My Dad was Don, I am Don, my Son is Don. My Sister is Donna. I have a cousin Donna, she married a Don, they have a Son named Don. [True story]

What has all of this got to do with PhotoPoint? Nothing really, just felt like saying that. Ever since PhotoPoint changed their software, they have sucked chinchin.

I won't be happy till I have a Website of my own. Any Webmasters out there? I cannot afford it right now, but the future is always open...

I need a place to write the uncensored pontifications of DON on all things Tactical and Societal.

REARIC! BUDDY! Where have you been??? Just lurking? I thought you got abducted by aliens or something (that WOULD explain some things about you...)

Chris,

We are always watching. Especially for new developments in cutlery as they make the Cow Autopsies (Earthlings use the disgusting term, "mutilations." ) much easier.

Although we have harnessed Anti-Gravitic Power, specifically through the use of Jack Daniels and Reverse Angular Momentum by studying Levitron™ Spinning Tops, we have found nothing better than a chisel ground Emerson Folder with which to do our work.

We are among you, one of us is a Screenwriter for the X Files.

Don (Rearic), once I fully launch the entire www.betactical.com website, I'll give you a place to post your commentary (daily, weekly, monthly, whatever), and we can call it something to the effect of the "Rearic Rant", okay? You have a way with words, and I think many would enjoy reading your thoughts as they pertain to the Tactical World. How about it?
smile.gif

Eric,

I think that is a marvelous idea! (Alright those critical of The Usual Suspects, keep those groans to yourselves, bastids)

We could alternate between Tactical things and Societal things, and I could send them to you in MS Works. Tactical things are pretty much in a constant state of flux, and so is society...

And JimBob, well, damn...I have no idea what Governor Spendenning is causing to be placed in the water. Perhaps some sort of mind control agent...for compliance. I dunno.

Ooooo... This'll be GOOD! The Rearic Rant.. Rearic Rambles? Rearic Really wRites Rudimentary Riddles? Don's Diary? Don's Desk? Cleaning out Don's Brain Pan? Don's Daily Mental Enema? Don's Distressingly Diverse Dogma? I Talk, You Listen? You May Not Understand All of the Words, But You'll Laugh Anyway?

"Don's Daily Mental Enema..."

That's an ugly picture right there (a mind is a terrible thing to taste).

I am puzzled by this remark:

OK OK OK, so in the Alien Post above, I used "momentum" instead of the proper "momenta." Sheeesh...

Perhaps you are referring to this:

"The angle of the dangle is adversely proportionate to the heat of the beat."</font>

Eh? Heh heh heh...
