+ Photos. NEW GEAR for the woods

Nice rig Bushamn, it's not something you see here on anyone but military but that's a cultural thing rather than a performance thing.

I've used traditional belt-webbing, Combat Vests and chest rig and found them all to be useful in their own way.

Have you tried combining your chest rig with a belt kit? I found a lot of guys to like this set up, they could put bulkier and heavy items such as water bottles and food in a couple of larger pouches on a belt and these would sit at their butt out of the way. This left the chest rig to have all the immediate stuff you need without the bulky and awkward stuff.

Hell half the fun of using this gear is the different set-ups it allows you to play with.

Enjoy it and nice score:thumbup:

And ROCK6, your input on topics like these is always interesting and valuable...I feel awkward thanking you for your service as it wasn't done on my behalf - I'm Canadian - but I salute you for your actions on behalf of your fellow Americans.

Ah, who am I kidding...Canada has been getting a pretty sweet deal off overhang of the American security umbrella, so you're helping us Canucks too. Thank you sir!

Well, it's funny you mention this. Our unit is a "separate" Battalion, so we get oversight directly from the Corps and our "big daddy" is actually a Brigadier General, who is CANADIAN :-) The guy is a true warrior and I enjoy his visits. Our Corps has had a long standing relationship with Canada and a deputy corps general position is shared with Canada for as long as I can remember. We have the same thing in Canada...kind of like an "exchange" program.

I’ve trained and worked beside servicemen/women from several different countries (Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Polish, Latvia, Georgia, Canadian, Australian, British, Slovakian, Ukrainian, Saudi, Iraqi, Turkey, Korea, Thai, Indonesia, Philippines, German, French, Croatian...I'm sure I've missed a few:D). I’ve enjoyed every time I get the opportunity and the differences are really very little. Besides, Canadians are just our Northern Brothers, so you’re all considered family to me :D

:D wore the chest rig all day today while driving the dump truck. 12 hours no stop. Very comfortable, did'nt even notice it while driving.

UPDATE:

the stock webbing is very comfortable, but there is one point where it "pinches" sometimes, right where back webbing crosses over

old harness, as seen on my lady friend:

So i unclipped the stock harness, went to the Mil surplus store and got an old "Y" harness. Trimmed off what i did'nt need, added the buckles and good to go! more balanced fit and no pinch, plus softer "drape" as the harness curves around the shoulder. I plan to put "D" rings on the back lower webbing, so the webbing will pivot better as it crosses under my arms and back to the chest rig

new (used) "Y" harness:

(btw, those two grommeted panels......hold my GB sf ax and BK9 in its stock sheath quite nicely......)

Also bought a 5:11 FAK pouch, this fits on the waist strap and rides like a butt pack. If i need access to it, i unclip the left buckle and the pouch swings into my right hand for easy access. Or i can unclip both waist buckles and remove the pouch completely.

Ok Bushman, i've got some questions!:D

How is the Michael morris cord wrapped, did you wrap it?
and how do you like the L2? Is it moded in anyway?

MM SAr necker is cord wrapped by the maker. About the best cord wrap i can do is a wad of duct tape.

the L2 is great, nice low with good runtime, ok high with low runtime. Stock setup. If you want a good mod get a SF 6P or 9P and get a Malkoff drop in and some Tenergey CR123 rechargables
