I've been trying to find the photo of the damascus KLO posted on H.I.'s forum a couple of weeks ago... Would appreciate the link, and any information. Thanks!

I only see a white square with a red X inside it... You can e-mail it to me, and I'll post it if you're having difficulty doing so. Thanks Bruce of 1!

whoops my mistake, a little editing is in order!

Now I see it clearly, thanks, Bruce of 1!

That's a very nice khukuri that I believe Mr. BadExample unsuccessfully bid on. I was referring to a K.L.O. that was made by a knifemaker in the U.S., which pretty much copied a khukuri's blade and handle geometry...

very nice khukuri!

Much better than average engraving on blade and handle mountings too! :)

As much as I appreciate the very high level of craftsmanship and finish of this KLO, it lacks the soul that the Nepali khukuris have. For example, look at H.I.'s Chitlangi; it looks like it's whooshing through the air even when laid down and photographed on the floor. I do like the activity in the blade though...

yeah, I have to agree. This is a KLO, cho or no. The old one up top is a real khukuri.
Every time I see that sword of Shiva, I drool.

No crying in yor beer allowed, Mr. BadExample... :D You should have stayed in the bidding arena. Any idea of what it sold for when the "hammer went down"? Very, very nice khukuri; I'd be proud to be its owner. If not for a bit of wood damage, the khukuri itself would be almost a 10 in my book.

A lot of care went into its fabrication; it should be clothed in a gracefully aged kothimoda sheath.

I like the one at top better as well, but I have handled some of Mr. Evans creations and they are top notch. He does a great job w/ethnic and period pieces, and is a nice guy to boot.

I took a look at his website, Steve, and he does have some beautiful pieces. The finishing is at an ultra high standard, which I greatly appreciate... I haven't seen a better KLO so far. ;)

It sold for $670 :(
It was the first time I was ever tempted to spend more than a few hundred on a knife. Knowing what I'll spend now, I would have gone considerably higher ;)

DEFINITELY worth $670; that's one that I would have loved to have caught (and won) on auction! Did John Powell make any comments on the knife? I'd be interested in his evaluation, and thoughts on its collectibility and rarity...

I've seen other antiques that khuk knuts win bids on, and there's hope to do even better, although luck, timimg, and a bit of sang-froid would certainly help. :D Spiraltwista has snagged quite a few beautigul khukuris.

JP had a rare kothimoda on ebay for $750 a while back. Don't know what came of it....sure was nice though! (should mention that it had gold fittings on it...:D - not damascus, though)

That kothimora was had a reserve of over $1500 and was taken out of auction after I received an offer from an overseas buyer.
