My younger Bro just came back from that northern tip of Cali AKA southern Oregon ( :D ) and brought me this burl base as my CPK display. I'm not completely done staining it but why not baptize it with a Shiv? ;)

Dave, it is actually from the Brookings area but it was marked as “real burl” which was written on it (pic added). Doesn’t mean that you can’t be more right though ;)

99% positive now after the pretreatment picture. My folks still have a clock made from it from when we lived there. I have good memories from there, played a ton of baseball and spent as much time as I could on the beach fishing, clamming, and terrorizing the tide pools. Sometimes we'd run down to Crescent City and watch the big boys play ball. I don't remember what league they were in, but I remember the pop that catcher's mitt let out when some of them would throw. Whoof :eek:
