Found a nice spot for coffee while walking with Grim today.
Choose for a walk along the river as it's been dry for weeks and a fire for coffee in the woods is not the best idea right now. Lionsteel T6 came along for firewood processing.

Last day of our Ardennes trip

Brought the Lionsteel T6, Opinel 12 saw and the Firebox Nano along.

Nice spot for coffee and lunch

Got a new knife this week,
the Lionsteel T6 in K490, so I needed to got out and test it just a little.
Lunch-break outside was just the way to do it
Brought along my tarp because the weather was not very predictable.
It stayed dry in the end, but sitting under a tarp does make things cosy outdoors

Started out with carving some pegs for my tarp

Then prepared some firewood,
cut down a dry log with the Opinel #12 saw

baton them into small chunks for my twig stove

The knife performed as expected, just great

Then some curls to get the fire going, doing ok but I can see myself convexing the edge in the future for a nicer, more smooth experience.

MSP core 4 stove (setup with only 3 walls) filled in Swedish torch style with loads of curls in the middle and on top

used the sharpened 90 degree pommel to strike my firesteel, works good, wouldn't mind if it was a bit wider to make things easier...

It's been raining all morning so brought my tarp when I went for an outdoors lunch today. It's been a while since I had the time to go out for this. In the pack my Firebox nano, Fiskars X5, Opinel 12 Saw and the MKM Normar knife. Some bread and Chorizo sausages.


Brought my hammock too to get as comfortable as possible

Next, light up my stove for coffee and food

The rain had stopped so my fire could be outside my tarp

Waiting for my water to boil

Coffee ready

Grilling my sausages

And they're done

Grim thinks they smell good too

Time to eat now, a great lunch once again.

Went on another solo hammock woods overnighter last week, visited our southern neigbours from belgium for this trip.
Started out a bit drizzling, but weather got better all the time, by the time I reached my sleeping location it was dry and later the sun came out.

Nice trails through the Belgium forrest

Cut some tentpegs and toggles for my tarp and set everything up.
Setup my camp, pleased how everything turned out.

Gathered some firewood next. The Silky super accel and Lionsteel T6 helped out.

Even brought my new tiny cast-iron skillet

Dinner ready, rice with onion, green pepper, jalapeno pepper and chorizo sausages.

Kept my fire burning till I went to bed

A bit of a restless night, colder than expected, put my inflatable in the hammock to isolate my but.
Need to practice sleeping in a hammock more often
At least no mosquitoes bothered me

Eggs for breakfast

Much better weather on my hike back to the car

Company on my way back

Just came back from a trip through Sweden.
Sorting out my knife pics...
Here's the first series of pictures

Brought the Lionsteel T6, Firebox Nano and some more fun gear

First up, coffee

Then some bannock with goat cheese melted on top

And there was more than pesky ticks in the grass :O

Brought my Dutch oven on our camping trip through Sweden. They have great Fire pits and shelters setup everywhere that gave me a great opportunity to use my Dutch oven on a Woods Fire for the first time.

Another day in Sweden this summer holiday, after a beautiful hike we used the super nice grill at one of these awesome shelters you find everywhere in the woods there.

This was in the Färnebofjärden National Park, the most amazing woods, rivers and lakes there

There were big logs of firewood provided by the park rangers, my Silky Super Accel cut it down to workable sizes.

Then the Lionsteel T6 was used to split it into smaller pieces to get the fire going.

Plenty of birchbark made lighting the fire super easy

Here you see the fantastic shelter in the back.

Time to heat up the griddle, a fantastic view over the river

And then grill some food

A great day out

A little bit of campfire cooking (in heavy winds) ...

Cut a long log to fire-pit sized logs with the silky

Then split to different sizes with the Lionsteel

Experimenting with a top down fire for a fire that need little to no maintanance during the cooking

See the wind playing with the flames

But the fire grew big enough to withstand the winds quickly

Food tossed on the grill, also put the kettle on for coffee after dinner

Wind blew alot of the heat away so it took a bit of patience to get all the food ready

So it was a nice meal, fun to make, but no place to hide from the wind made us eat quickly and we didn't enjoy the fire for much longer after dinner.
