I'm going to guess that you gave just a little for the knife and want to make maximum profit on it. There's nothing wrong with that.
You can list it at whatever price you want as a BUY IT NOW and then allow people to make their best offer on it. I'd do it this way first, myself.
You can also set a reserve price on it and start the bidding at a very low price and let the auction run for a long time.
I've relisted items that I couldn't sell at my asking price (in the first auction) with a reserve and a low starting bid and usually end up getting more for it than I was asking in the first auction.
I think the only thing that might hurt you is not having any paperwork on the knife.
