Physical Cutlery Stores

On line I mostly buy knives at two business: Smoky Mt Knife Works (SMKW) and New Graham. Both have physical stores and I know that I can usually beat SMKW's pricing, but that is a store I love to visit and I do pay their prices. I know of no cutlery store that comes close to their operation in terms of selection. Have not been to New Graham's store, but I will certainly make a point of visiting if I am in the area.

I would certainly visit House of Blades in the DFW area if I were in that neck of the woods.

I occasionally buy knives elsewhere such as Knifeworks, A.G. Russell, and Cumberland Knife Works, and Sportsman's Warehouse (SW). I seldom buy knives at places like Bass Pro or Gander Mountain although I group SW into that catagory. I just support SW's business. I certainly look however and you just never know.

Mall based stores tend to be more expensive as their overhead is substantial for the store. There aren't any around me, but I have in the past visited mall cutlery stores. I'm usually looking for things like high quality scissors or a last minute present there. You pay the price. Many people are not aware of the online/mail order places and some what to look and handle a knife in person prior to buying.

Yep, Plaza Cutlery is the best knife store iv ever been in. The guys there are very nice and knowledgeable . If you live in California I don’t know way you would go any wear ells.
Unless you're into customs, of course. Then good luck trying to beat Nordic Knives in Solvang. ;)

I live in New York City. And have an amazing store that specializes in Custom Knives, mainly fixed blades. But they carry lots of folders some of the newer ones the prices are a bit high. But they have an amazing selection of all sorts of production knives. Mainly the higher end stuff.
The owner/staff same person is very knowledgeable and personable. And dosnt put any pressure on you to buy. And let's you play aroung with $20,000 Katanas from the 1600s
Love the store. Have bought tons there

If you are in new York, check them out

I'll have to check them out , it's only a short subway ride from where I work.

I grew up in O.C. and lived 2 1/2 miles from South Coast Plaza. I used to think that all cutlery stores were like Plaza Cutlery. There not, and I now appreciate Plaza Cutlery much so.

One of the best things about shopping at a good B&M store is that they attract knowledgeable buyers. In some ways they are almost like drop in centres for other knife enthusiasts. I have learned a lot from chatting with folks at these "non-internet blade forums".
