Oh man thanks a lot. The patinas are nice. Is it me or are they almost identical except for the drop on the spine and the swell in the palm? And of course the thickness of the scales. I wonder if Kephart would like that Koster.
No. Dan is up to the mid 180's on his production and my order is 197 so I'm just day dreaming. We all can't be as lucky as Talfuchre who had number 2. The bastid.
They feel and act like totally different knives. If I had my choice (and this is no dig on Dan's work), I would have the Kephart.
The handle is neutral in grip, the blade is a very thin full convex, and slices like a dream - the only advantage the Koster has is the spear point.
However, they are apples and oranges. The Koster is hungrier and thinner - it is more of a woodworking knife for sure. The Kephart is a great slicer and all around knife. They both are just great.
All of this is very subjective - but if it were me - I would and do own both!
Oh - and that is not #2 - #2 is a CPM 154 in Cocobolo. That is a 01 Bushcrafter... I have two.
