Pic request Military next to Manix 2

I have a Manix 2 in S110v [and one in CPM-M4], however don't carry them much because they don't carry too well for me. I don't mind a longer or heavier knife, but just don't like ones that are wide [Front to back length, not thickness]. I'm wondering if anyone could take pictures of a military next to their manix so I could get a comparison and idea of the size. I've only handled a military once, and loved how it felt in the hand, however did not put it in my pocket to see how well it carried.

If you had a BM 710 available to throw in the pics, that would help too. Thanks.

In what way does the Manix 2 not carry well for you?
If it's too big, or bulky, the Military is only going to be more so. I have both knives Nccole posted and I find the Manix 2 much more "carryable", that is to say it's lighter, slimmer and carries tip up, so for me, it's a no-brainer.

I feel bad about how little pocket time my CRUWEAR gets, but hey, competition is stiff :P

The manix is significantly wider than the military when closed. Both at the widest point and along most of its length.
For me, the manix was always in the way if I tried putting anything else in the same pocket. The stock military carries much better in my opinion, more so tip up.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. The width of the manix 2 is causing me to not like it. My normal EDC is a BM 710, which is significantly larger and heavier, however since it's not as wide, it feels easier for me to carry. The military looks very similar dimensionally to the 710, which is what I'm looking for.

I own a Military, but not a Manix 2. I have carried a Manix 2 XL a little, and while it's a little shorter in length, it feels way bigger in the pocket. So, if the width of the XL is similar to the Manix 2, then I'd say that the Military has to feel leaner in the pocket. ...my 1.5 cents.

I've sold all my Manix2's and C95's because they just felt too wide in the pocket. I still have a couple of Militaries though, and they carry better.

Is a half a millimeter significant?

I gotta tell you, it seems like an insignificant difference, but it feels major. As crazy as it sounds, I find the Manix too wide as well. I have the KW S90V Manix, and virtually never carry it because of the front to back width.

Millies are proof that god loves Spydies and wants us to carry them. For the size, no knife carries better. Maybe that's why I have 12 Millies and one Manix XL. :)

You cannot just compare widths at the widest points. You have to consider where the widest part is compared to how deep it is and how the clip allows the knife to ride. I don't have a standard Manix, but I bet it rides different than the LW version due to the clip differences. My Military converted to tip up rides better than the vast majority of all my knives. My Manix has never been a problem for me. I did put a low riding wire clip on it though.

I was comparing a stock Military to a stock Manix 2 LW.
Sure, if you want to customize your Military to carry tip up, I'm sure that changes the equation.
For me, personally, I prefer the Manix 2 LW, no matter how wide it is at it's widest point, because it carries tip up and the blade spine faces behind me, into the back fold of my pocket.
With the Military, carrying tip down, the blade spine makes contact with the back of my hand every time I reach in my pocket, which I find annoying.

To the OP, obviously you are the best judge of what you're gonna like, but speaking from my own experience, I don't think you'll find the Military to be all that much more comfortable in the pocket, unless you customize it to carry tip up.

That's my 2¢. Thank you.

Actually, you're wrong. The Military carries much better than the FAT Manix 2. Also, the Military is 4.2 oz. and the Manix 2 is 5.0 oz. You just guessing here? Where do you think the Manix 2 is "lighter" and "slimmer"? Not true at all.

Edited my first post to clarify Rasco. Stock or modified, I prefer the military.
Whatever works for you is all good though. Enjoy the manix!

The S110V Manix 2 is the LIGHT WEIGHT version. It weighs a bit under 3Oz I believe.?? Are you thinking of the Manix 2 XL?
I own both knives, so nope, I'm not guessing. I'm comparing tip-down Military to tip-up Manix 2 LW.
I checked on my lunch break, both knives are pretty much the same "thickness" when held side by side.
The Military is quite a bit taller in the pocket.

And don't you think "how it carries" is pretty subjective? Like, different people might have different opinions on which knives "carry better" for them, personally? But thanks for telling me I'm wrong.

How do you feel about tip-up Vs tip-down and how it feels in the pocket, when you reach your hand in, etc? No difference to you?

I completely disagree with Rascos assessment, but that doesn't mean he's wrong. He's just...confused! Hehehe. Just kidding. Like he said, it is subjective to a degree, but for me it is not even close. The Military carries WAY slimmer than the manix. The manix is a complete pocket hog IMO and the Millie somehow manages to almost disappear in the pocket. I actually find it a better carry than the bm 710 but that might just be my bias toward Spyderco talking.

Go ahead and try the Millie...thing carries amazingly small for what it is.

Hehehe, you wrote it down better than I ever could. I was writing something along those lines but it sounded clumsy and a bit offensive to me so I deleted it. :)

OP here. As a comparison, I have a Manix 2 LW in S110v and a G10 manix 2 in CPM-m4. Despite the difference in weight, I can't tell a significant difference in how they carry because they are both too thick for my taste. On the other hand, my BM 710 is my favorite edc at the moment, and despite being heavier it carries much easier than the manixes because it's not as wide. Dimensionally the military looks similar to the 710 so I was hoping to pick one up. On the other hand, I did not realize the military was tip down only. That could be a deal breaker.
