Howdy folks-

I've never asked for a 'custom' pic from the masses before, but I was hoping someone with the following to blades could help me with a picture/decision. I've had the Jarvenpaa on my wish list for too long! My only concern is handle size/thickness. I prefer a pretty thick and round handle.

Would anyone have both a Mora 510 and this guy:

...that could give me an 'above view' of both handles next to each other, and preferably one from the side?

Thanks for any help guys!

Edited to add: If anyone has that blade, and some other really common one like the Mora #1 or M2k, a ruler. :)

Spooky, that Javanpaa(utility) is a great knife..dont hesitate!! The handle is much bigger than a moras handle..it is a stout knife. The only Javanpaa I like better is the Aito..which is the same blade with a birch bark handle. Gene

I have that very one and can send it to you to try Spooky! I have to figure where I misplaced it first though:thumbup:

That's very reassuring! This sounds like a blade up my alley for sure.

That'd be great man, if you're not too sick of sending all your stuff to me! :D I think we're keeping a pending borrow list between each other.

Spooky, I have the 510 and the Aito puukko(birch bark handled version of the same knife) and if youre willing to pay the difference you should really consider the Aito. Anyway the handle and blade ballance perfectly and make woodworking chores so much easier. The 3.25" blade was shorter than I was used to using( I use a fox river normally) but in the last six months this has become my favorite knife by far. Im sure the utility version performs as well and you will enjoy.

Yeah..I would highly recomend the Aito...feels so good in your hand, you wont believe it. I try all kinds of knives..but I usually grab the Aito and throw it in the bag..as a back up. Gene
