I'm going back and forth on these, I've had two paramilitary's and have never owned a Caly. The paramilitary is hard, if not impossible, tobe at in the Spyderco line up as far as I'm concerned. But the Caly is a bit more compact.
Can someone post up a side by side pic? I know there's a ton of people out there that own both I'm sure :D
Thanks!

Here's a pic that has the Para and Caly 3 as the bottom two knives. I have and use both. I still like to say that the Para is my fav Spyderco, and I guess that in terms of what I like best, it is. But in terms of what I carry and use most often, it would have to be the G10 Caly 3. Never found anything it couldn't do from light duty to outdoor stuff.

That's a small regular Sebbie at the top, BTW.

I say just buy more Para's. :D

dangit!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need both...

First I think it's back to the Para trough though but they are suprisingly similar in their own way. I think it's the complete one handed use of the para that's leading me back. It's nice to be able to flick open, flick close.

Many thanks!

Just got my Caly 3 CF in from gpknives (ordered Monday, received today!!) and this is one sweet knife. VERY solid, very light, not as sharp as the Para I had right out of the box but still very sharp. And it looks GREAT! The CF is not slippery at all, there's a hand rubbed satin finish that grips just right.
Really though, they're two different knives. The Caly I'd carry to work, the Para I'd carry everywhere else.
heh-just gotta sell something else to grab another Para I suppose.

The Caly 3 CF is, IMHO, Sal's masterpiece. Really, my favourite knife of all time. Glad to hear you like yours.

The one thing that's always held me back from the Para is the ginormous handle. If I wanted to carry something that big, I'd probably go for a full-sized Millie. (which has the opposite characteristic: ginormous blade in a relatively slim and compact set of scales.)

The Caly3CF, on the other hand, is perfect for my (institutionalized :( ) EDC.

That said, the compression lock is awesome. (I've never been a fan of the backlock, though I've never had a problem with them either.)

I like the big handle and smaller blade on my para, it gives me the feeling of control over the blade, but thats just my 2 cents.
