Hello all. I am really on the fence over picking up a rodent 6. If it is simply a beefier ratmandu then I'm in. Any one have pics of the two together? really like to see how the handles compare. Thanx
 
No RMD but a pic for fun. Might help. Sold my RMD a while ago.

If you order an R6 see if you can get it with liners. Handle could stand to be just a tad thicker IMO. If you need just a bit more knife than an RMD the R6 will suit you I think. The upper guard doesn't bother me in the least when choking up. Thumb goes over the top and the shape doesn't dig into the thumb.

That didn't come out best but should give you an idea... Can't really see in the pic, wrong angle, but R6 handle is about quarter inch longer than RMD, but same shape. R6 is thicker and slabs have been slightly sculpted/curved so there's a swell in the middle, not flat like RMD.
If you really want beefier handles go for M6 or Mini Mojo, they're definitely beefier than RMD.
 
Wow thanx everyone. Looks to indeedbe a mega ratmandu. I could never get used to the handle on the M6 as it was just to much handle compared to the blade. This looks better. Thanx again everyone.

Hmm, I hadn't thought about that. You might have just stopped me from buying an R6 in the future! :eek: I love my Mini Mojo! If the R6 is similarly sized, but just has a smaller handle like the RMD, than I think I'll stick with the MM.

The Mini Mojo is third from the top, with a Desert Jack underneath it, and then a Ratmandu LE below.
 
That is the very reason I haven't ordered an R6 yet. I don't see that much difference between it and my mini mojo.

Lighter, more comfortable (handle not as wide and nicely profiled), and there is no 'corner' at the end of a handle like in the M series, if you had to chop it might become an issue. My 2 cents...
 
Might order one anyway. I love the RMD's handle. I don't chop much with knives that size, but have been known to use a baton on email.

You don't have to chop that much for the 'corner' to become irritable. And you can ask CS to lose the top guard before the blade gets coated. :D
 
Just email them a query at the customer service email DOC. I have them making me a custom Rodent Solution at this time.

I don't know how far they'll go but adding g10 handles, and choice of finishes seems to be commonly.

Thanks wildmike. I have an RS on its way. If I had known I had more options........

I'm also considering an RMD, so I'll check with CS first.
