Pick My New EDC (Under $200)
Revised budget

I am currently using a CRKT M16-13ZE. It's a liner lock (with slightly annoying safety lock system) with part serrated blade, real carbide glass breaker, seat belt cutter.

I'd like to replace it with something that has all the same features but in a better steel, better locking system. Just more sturdy. D2 steel? Or suggestions? Should be relatively stainless and tough steel. Can be different blade shape but would like part serrated.

Is this possible for under $200? Please list suggestions and links/pics. Thanks.

Maybe this thing from Gerber?

The CLS. Combat Life Saver. It's in 440 steel. Not a huge upgrade, but it is an upgrade and still hits all the criteria.

Or this XR-1 Extreme Rescue from Ontario:

N690co there. Theres a glass breaker mounted on the top of the handle that you cant see in the photo.

I'd just ditch the glass breaker and strap cutter though. Probably never going to use them and it really limits your choices. Theres a TON of great knives available if you get rid of those two pieces of criteria.

Thanks for suggestions- keep them coming. I might up the budget to sub $200?
If I got rid of the glass breaker/strap cutter then it'd be an ordinary knife...those stay. I can possibly do without the part serrations.

Are you a first responder? I honestly don't see the practicality in a knife that "does it all" unless you're an EMT or Firefighter and keep the knife on your uniform/turn out gear. Then it might make sense but as an EDC, nah (Although as everything and since it has been done before, it's up for debate). I can see a practical use for part serrated blade depending on your job though. Hence why i focused on that.
A good additional criteria you could throw in is blade size, either personal preference or legality reasons. Do you want to stay within M16 size, go smaller or bigger?

As far as a knife goes I agree on the Rat in D2 best thing you can get for $50 but the glass breaker and Set belt cutter idk about getting all that

I've never understood the belt cutter thing. I may be missing something but if I'm in an accident my EDC CS Recon1 will cut right through a seat belt. If I make a hammer first and hit the corner of a car window with the knife closed it'll shatter a window. Maybe if you need to cut the clothes of a car crash victim a belt cutter may help. If that's what you do for a living I guess I can see the need for those two tools. Besides that I wouldn't worry about them. That's just me. Good luck on your search OP.

For under $200 I cannot recommend the DPX HEST 2.0 enough. Search DPX HEST triple black serrated. It has no strap cutter but it has a glass break.

A Res Q Me actually has a glass breaker that is 100000x more effective than one on the butt of a knife.

If you can do without serrations the regular DPX HEST is quite abit less than 200$

And the HEST knife actually comes with a keychain tool too. Plus the Lanyard hole fits hex bits too and it has a bottle opener that doubles as a wave opener.
