Pick one of these Spyderco knives and tell me why

Manix 2 fan here. The others are nice choices but for the $$$ it is the best knife out there. It is so solid and the grip options (ways you can hold it with a solid grip) it provides are greater than most. It just melts in my hand. It also offers several color and steel options if you want to get fancy.

Get a Military! you will end up with one eventually!

But anyways, I have a manix 2, sage 2, and a waved endura with SE.

I like the endura the most of the 3, mostly because it's slim and long, like the Military, and very lightweight.

The manix 2 is a solid knife, and the ergos are amazing, but it's not my cup of tea, too wide when closed (for my tastes), it really is a great knife though.

The sage is a great little edc knife, but it is kinda on the small size

I have also owned all three, and the Sage series is my favorite because of the fit and finish and overall quality-to-price factor.

I'd recommned the Stretch for a first Spydie, but that's not what you asked. :D

Of the 3 listed, I'd say the Sage in CF. Excellent f&f. Good size for edc. Very classy knife.

I agree and expect to get te CF one, but then I saw a Sage 3 Blackie Collins... wow. I don't know when it will be released in 2011, but it is amazing.

I am thinking of buying another knife. I generally use a CRKT Desert Crusier for EDC. I love the grip in my hand. I also have a Mel Pardue Ambush (love the Axis lock) that is a hunting backup to my short Ka-Bar that I resharpened. There certainly are many to choose from that could make my list, but I was reading through the posts in the thread that asks for your list of knives.

I noticed very many posters favor Spyderco and I wondered of these three choices what would you favor as an EDC and why?

Endura
Manix2
Sage

I wouldnt pick any of those, I'd be between a police vs a caracara2 in G10 (byrd~spyderco) vs civilian vs crossbill. I have all of them and I edc my police right now as my coldsteel tilite 6incher is in a different state as I am currently.

I only have about 8 Spyderco knives. They seem to lean towards collecting and I think that many of their blade designs have only subtle differences.

I prefer the Delica 4 to the Endura

The Caly 3 appeals me as well as my Para Military in digi-camo

My Stretch blade seems to be a modified Military with less of a point

when you overlay the two and compare.

I have bought two of their knives because of the color of the handle. (British Racing

Green Delica 4 and the discontinued Steel Blue on the Stretch)

Then they come out with FFG. They got me again. A Sage 2 was on my list

but sanity has returned and I quit buying folders. Good luck on your search.

Manix fan here. I haven't owned a sage yet, but plan on getting a sage 2 in the near future. The Endura is just too long and skinny in my opinion. The Delica on the other hand is perfect for edc. Small, but effective. But out of the three choices, I have only personally handled two of them, the manix and endura. Out of those two, east pick. Manix. No brainer.

It really depends on your needs. I have a Manix 2 in XHP. It is an awesome knife. However IMHO, it is a bit to large to comfortably carry everyday. For me, the Endura is a bit too long. I prefer a Delica. For EDC, the sage is a great knife.

It really all depends on what you want to do with it.

I have two End.. actually, three Enduras now that I think of it and I love them.
I just bought my first Manix 2 and its the black blade. I love it too. Its heavier and seems to be built like a brick **** house.
I don't however have a Sage so I cannot comment.

I carried the Enduras for a long time and still do from time to time. They take everything I've thrown at them and held up just fine. They are a staple Spyderco IMO and wouldn't sell any of them. The saber grinds are BEEFY and the balance of blade to handle is very nice. Almost one to one. They come in so many flavors, its really hard to not find one you like. Locks up great.

I just got the black blade Manix2 yesterday from everyones favorite pharmacy.
This thing is built VERY well. Its not my first ball lock, but my first with the caged ball and I like it, alot. Its not quite as user intuitive as the Axis lock, but I don't put it quite in the same role either. Im a fan. The blade and tip are great size and the handle is a ergonomic work of art. The blade is hollow ground so the edge is nice and thin. But thats one thing Im curious about. The overall package is a tank knife, but the tip is very thin and precise on the hollow ground version. I don't however see it being an issue as I've thumped thinner knives with weaker steel and never seem to break them. Think Leek.
I imagine the flat ground versions have a thicker and stronger tip if that worries you. Lets see... what else... Lock up. If you haven't felt the lock up on a ball lock, you will likely be impressed. That one thing I'll give it over my Axis locks. Even well cleaned, lubed and tight, some of my Axis locks can get play in the blade. My D'Allara has NEVER had that issue. Even after a tear down, clean and reassemble, it locks up like a bear trap with a solid CLINK when it opens.

Fit and finish on all of my Spydercos are amazing. My new Manix 2 is no different. Blades centered perfectly, the G10 is deep black and grippy. The DLC coating is perfectly even and a beautiful satin black. Its not as "flat" as my 710D2BK but it does the job equally well and I suspect it will last a little longer with use since there isn't as much of a porous surface to wear in like the BenchKote.

My advice is to buy all three. :)

The Sage 1 is high quality and just feels very balanced. It is definitely one of my favorites. I call it my "formal knife;" but despite the name it's a tough SOB and up to any task.

I like long blades, so I lean toward the Endura. If you buy both the FRN/FFG ZDP189 and G10/VG10 models, you can switch the parts and have a G10 handle with a FFG ZDP189 blade.

I think all Spyderco owners are required to have at least 1 Endura and 1 Delica in their collection.

The Endura is a great knife, but it will take something special to unseat my D4 VG10 G10 FFG as my EDC.

I really like the Manix 2. Tough, ergos are excellent (most spydercos are, but imho the manix 2 is better than the other two listed in this regard), and it fills my 2xl hand nicely. The new light weight version with the blue handle listed in the 2011 catalog really has me interested.
